Davis is a joke, no offense. I'm going to Venice, Italy on Monday

I got a pm from him saying he was going to catch a ride with somebody from Davis and go north to Chico, which is a town I recommended to him in an earlier post, since he didn't like Davis so much. Chico is less than 100 miles north of Davis, a nice easy going place, quite bike friendly, a pretty cool place IMO. Don't know if he made it there, but it's certainly easier to get from Davis to Chico than Davis to Venice, Italy!

Davis is totally bike friendly, there are tons of people riding bikes, and the downtown is really tiny and no more car infested than any other in the developed world. Stop whining.
That said, Italy is awesome, have fun.
Also Chico and Davis downtowns are absurdly similar, but the Chico park is amazing.

Rats, I had thought this would turn out to be a thread on Davis being a joke (a rich vein to mine, believe me) instead of a Ra-Ra-if-you-don't-like-it-have-fun-in-commie-land-thread. Granted, Davis has plenty of bikeways, and loads of cyclists, but good grief, what a buncha stiff upper lips! That's all I have without using the best description I've ever heard...."Davis?!...What a Coc**uckers Paradise!"

Obviously you have not read the OP's series of posts about his dissatisfaction with everywhere he has ever been and with every cultural stereotype that he assumes infest those places.

I-Like-To-Bike -
I am not dissatisfied with EVERY place to live. I just know a bad place when I see one. Your the type of person who thinks its better to somehow refrain your attitude then move out of the offending situation. And as much as I see your point and way of action, I believe that REAL negative environments create REAL problems for people.
I -DID- go to Venice, Italy. I did go to the Netherlands.. even London..
And yes, there are differences between the places, and no I didn't hate them all because the world is a mirror of me and i'm a bad person blah blah blah blah blah. ****.
In fact I really appreciated other ways of living/life besides the stupid American one. ****ing wake up... its not all about car-centered, materialistic living. Everyone knows it... its just we are so entrenched that its easier to lower our consciousness about the whole thing then try to change it...
I-like-to-bike, please go **** yourself. You are just a negative spirit...and always have been to me. Seriously you need a life. I bet you no one in your -physical- life even listen to you, so you come on here to push your vileness on others. And guess what? The only reason people "listen" to you is because you are just text on monitor...
If someone actually had to be around your physical presence I"m sure they would run.
But hey, this thread isn't about you. But please try to help yourself.

Cagertools, I could suggest some places I've lived that would make the 7th circle of hell seem like Paradise
I suspect you'll eventually find "home" for you, or at least I hope you do

CagerTools, I hope you find the place that's right for you, but I doubt if you'll ever find any place that will meet all your criteria. No place in the world, no matter how wonderful, will be perfect.
If you want car-free places, there are First Nations villages in Nunavut and other areas in the Canadian Arctic which are not accessible by car. But life in these places is difficult in many ways. The North is a beautiful area but by no means trouble-free. Or you could relocate to Amish or Old Order Mennonite communities in Ontario or parts of the eastern United States. The only cars you'd see would be those driven by the occasional tourist or outsider visiting the area. But before you pack up and head east, you need to determine if you could cope with such a place.
Keep looking around but in the end, you'll discover there are going to be some compromises you'll need to make, no matter where you choose to make your home.

CagerTools,
Why don't you tell us a little about your trip? How did you like Europe? I'd be interested in reading about your esperiences and impressions.

It's been my experience that people who laugh at others rarely make any breakthroughs, offer little that is constructive and usually impede progress. It's the ones who follow their paths like this fellow is who make the real contributions. They laughed at Tesla, but today everyone in the world depends on his far-fetched discoveries.
I don't know why you are unable to see it. Maybe it's that old biblical mote, log and eye syndrome bothering you. Consult your doctor if the problem persists.

The op has respect from me for actually going out and trying to find his dream instead of putting up with his surroundings' shortfalls.
I'm from suburban central VA, there the shoulders are 6 inches wide and the speed limit is 45-55mph. Everything is 5+ miles apart and only the heavily traveled roads get you to anywhere. Though if your just looking to go for a nice ride, there are less-traveled roads that fill the role just fine.
I'm in Richmond VA right now at college, there is a heavy fixed-gear culture, and bikes are all around, mostly due to VCU's precesses. Living car free in the RVA is a definite possibility.

I was going to post about my trip then the post never went through.
All in all I was dissapointed. Although it was amazing how well I slept in Venice. So Quiet. Seriously some people just go their whole lives not knowing how quiet the world was before humans intervened. So peaceful... Venice has that feel...but its not perfect.
The part of Netherlands I was in..pff...supposedly the amount of people driving has gone up and up.
I felt like I was just in America pretty much...in the Netherlands and London at least. But Venice gave me a hint of a Latin culture (although its pretty much overrun by tourists) that I know exists...
I'm going far far far away from western civilization next time I go anywhere. I think it will be nice to get the F out of Dodge and at the same time be able to finally see another way of life.

Oh PS thanks for the support guys. You guys are a bunch of rowdy MF's out there... challenging all the cars... a manly thing and I think MAN is getting way too ****ing feminized in this country!
Strength...not just the gucci underwear model bull**** strength...real strength. thats what we need of more in this country.
I think man needs to take back the reign. It is given to him. I think it is our responsiblity as MEN to be strong and to hold onto our MAN ESSENCE. When we become weak we mess things up...because we need this strength. You know who really needs our strength??? WOMEN... because otherwise woman have to pick up the slack. And dammit I'm sick of seeing woman trying to be manly... it sucks.
Peace :]

groans? man up.. i pity the fool. don't let your power be taken from you... seems that the way civilization is going. "men and woman are equal!", cries the woman.
i'm all about equality... but **** when our power as men... our man qualities start becomes phased out...
its time to defend.
stay strong.

Just read this fine thread for the first time.
CagerTool, please keep us posted.
There are stupid people everywhere.
Stupid thought patterns are contagious, and they've infected our minds as well as theirs.
Hope you find a way out.
