Excerpt from Legal Briefing
This is how bad things are stateside:
"This defendant did not obtain a driver’s license, according to the disclosures, until she was 20 years old. This appears to be unusual, and may be indicative of a learning disability, a physical or mental disability, or otherwise be relevant to the determination of how this accident occurred."

At least she had a license to suspend Around here I would guestimate that at least 1/3 of the drivers on the road on any given day either don't have a license or are driving on a revoked or suspended one. NCHP ran a check point near my house on a Saturday night. Out of 300 checks they had over 180 violations and most of those were license related...gives you a nice warm, fuzzy feeling about your fellow drivers.

It's just an excerpt from a discovery motion I'm dealing with at work. I pointed out in opposition that I didn't get a license till I was 23 LOL The details of the case aren't important, but it strikes me as a sad commentary that Americans assume anyone who doesn't have ass in car by 18 has some major mental problem.

I didn't get my DL until I was about 20. I remember many long conversations when I would try to explain to people that I didn't want to drive because someday the earth would get too warm from the stuff that was coming out of their tailpipes. This was in the early 1970s, and not many people had heard about global warming yet.
Maybe I had a mental disability and was just too stupid to know it.

You can say whatever you want in a brief, right? If the court agrees with it, well, that's another story.

Hey, the world needs lawyers. Nothing wrong with that. Hey, My S/O doesn't have a licence to drive, and she's 34, never had one, never needed one.

In the right lane
I got a driver's license when I was 26 and my first car when I was 28. I guess that would make me completely "special needs" then.
