Locking stuff to a bike.

Ok, here's my problem.

I want to swim in the SF bay at Aquatic Park. If I ride my bike there (I sure as hell wouldn't drive) I'll need a way to secure my stuff while I swim. Some kind of strongbox that can be locked to my bike. I can put a singular key around my neck, but that's about it.

Do they make such a thing?

it's easy if you let it.

Depending on what the "stuff" is, you might be able to lock it via U-lock. That's what I do with my helmet.

Well, it's my helmet, keys, wallet, phone, clothing, towel, tools, lights, etc.

And I can't seem to goggle it up at the moment, but I've seen a metal cargo net that you can lock to your bike, securing whatever it incloses.

The helmet's easy--just thread the bike lock through one of the vent holes or even the strap.

If you want to jury rig something for the rest, maybe a metal tackle box with a little padlock, and run the bike lock through the handle of the tackle box. Make sure you have a pocket in your swim suit for the two keys.

It also seems that if you're just going swimming, leave the valuable stuff and the tools at home. Just take your towel and clothing. Wrap the clothes up in the towel and tie it to the bike. It's unlikely that anybody would steal them.

What? a dog might urinate on it? How droll.

I've never read a blog that made me gladder that I don't live in NYC. Or one that made me gladder that every web page has a little X in the upper right corner.

Rent a locker https://home.pacbell.net/leewaysf/aquatic.html

Tips:
If you are not utilizing the Dolphin Club, bring minimal gear and leave it on top of the wall next to the Club. Lock up your swim gear in your car if you plan to take a run. There are some transient looking types in that area, but most of the people at Aquatic Park are tourists who are enjoying the views and are quite shocked and amused when they see a swimmer in a wetsuit.

You can buy a hard-shell rack trunk with a lock, although I'm not sure I'd trust it with my wallet. I'd say bring as minimal of stuff with you as possible, and if there are lockers anywhere around the beach make use of them.
