Best cities for car-free living !
Does the average person use all areas of any city ? A person could function in the area of a few square miles if the area has everything they need, Employment, grocery stores, and etc.

It all depends. All the shopping and facilities that I need are very close by and make car-free living a breeze. I looked all over the city and couldn't find a better location. And my first job here was only 3 miles away, a hilly 35 minute commute.
However, my last job was a 10 mile commute each way, with some unpleasant roads. With having to leave early for work to avoid the worst of traffic, the commute took a 3 hour chunk out of each day.
And then there is my bicycle advocacy work. Unfortunately for me all the meetings were downtown, 7 hilly miles away at night.

That sounds like being in a cage to me. That's not life, that's more like vegetation. I like to get away often.
