LOL

I emptied out my panniers on my city bike yesterday when it was almost 100*...found my missing winter gloves

If I'm just out for a ride, I strap my trunk bag on to the rack, which carries baby wipes (no more greasy hands!); zinc oxide; a little bag with anti-histamine lotion, polysporin, excedrin, kleenex, and a small deodorant; protein bars (and the occasional energy gel, if it's a long ride/I'm feeling crappy); a little bag with my headlights and taillights and a couple of patch kits; eyedrops; chapstick; a bandana; wallet and cellphone; my 9/16 wrench; and my reflective vest and leg straps.

If I'm commuting, it's usually to rehearsal. I strap on my panniers, move over everything from the trunk bag and add a bottle of gatorade, my kindle, a little makeup bag and mirror, whatever music I need for that rehearsal, my glasses kit (I get headaches if I wear my contacts too long), and usually a change of shirt.

I always have 2 large bottles of water on my bike, a frame pump, and a seat bag that contains tire levers, a spare tube, and my multi-tool.

Obviously, I live by the Boy Scout motto. I feel a bit ridiculous carrying so much with me, but then, I frequently have to fix something on someone's bike, so my friends stopped teasing me about it pretty quickly.

Haha, I'm the one who rides with nothing but myself and a lock

Of course, most of my rides are only a few miles. For longer ones I usually take my backpack with a water bottle, wallet, and patch kit. No pump since I can just air up at a gas station.

Many years ago, I had to walk home more than 20 kilometres on one of the hottest days of the year because I wasn't able to handle a flat tire. I had no patches, no tubes and no pump. On at least 15 kilometres of that road, there was no gas station, so I couldn't have filled the tire even if I had been able to repair it. At present, there is a small frame pump on my bike at all times. I also carry patches and a spare tube, since I've had more than one flat I was unable to patch because it was at the valve stem.

LOL, WAY TOO MUCH STUFF! I'm one of those, "I might need that" types, I'm sure that my rack bag with fold out mini-panniers weighs as much as my bike, a weight weinne I am NOT! tubes, patches, tools, first aid kit, full rain gear, small digital camera, thick cable and heavy pad lock, emer. food, (2 food bars and 2 packs of Sport Beans), terry cloth seat cover, (made by wife out of a cheap towl to keep the seat from getting too hot in the sun), spare gloves, spare reading glasses, ect. See I told you, TOO MUCH!

It's always me + at least 1 child. The furthest we've bike was 18km round trip which took us 3.5 hours with 8yo, 6yo and 3yo on their own bikes. Yes, I prove my patience is far too long.

Cash
Keys
Charged cellphone
Heavy chain lock
4 water bottles
Snacks

I bring enough cash to eat out and get a taxi home. I also bring a charged cellphone to call a taxi. Biking would cease to be fun if I worried about keeping my kids out of trouble while I made repairs on the side of the road. Get the kids out of my hair, come back later to sort out the bike.

Well, I usually take myself, a small lock, and my bike. ;P

Haha. Really though, I don't bring anything on a bike trip that I don't also take on a walking trip. Usually my backpack (which includes a patch kit), a water bottle, and my cell/wallet/keys. If I won't be carrying anything I don't bother with the backpack and just take what's in my pockets. Biking is just an everyday thing that I don't particularly prepare for.... I've been doing it since elementary school with no special stuff. I can't imagine having to actually plan for rides or take a special set of equipment along. Helmet and lock are the exceptions of course.
