I like the Sirrus, was set to buy one a few years ago, but a last minute financial problem came up. I ended up with a lightweight little mountain bike instead--same riding configuration, but a few pounds heavier and not so sweet looking. There's a thread about this in forum archives, IIRC.

Lol, some of you are clearly kind of paranoid...

If someone asks about the price of my bike(s) I tell them... Simple and plain... I don't back down from inquiries like that, I will say that they're kind of rude, but whatever... It's not like everyone is that way... I just think they're genuinely curious..

I tell them it was an anniversary present and it cost me 38 years of marriage, that usually scares them off... Andy

It is genuinely none of their business and I have no idea what my bikes cost. I tell them I don't know.

I had a lunatic come into a cafe yelling that my bike cost $20,000.....he kept it up until the owner asked him to let me enjoy my coffee.

Sorry I don't live car free so I was loading my bike on the back of my car after a ride when I first started. Had an elderly gentleman stop in his car and ask me, "How much does one of those things cost? $600?" I chuckled, "No, this junk was just $99 at Walmart about 8 years ago."

This was when I first started and seeing if it was an exercise routine I would stick with before buying a new bike the following spring.

Not necessarily, it all depends on the neighborhood.

No way Jose! I under-estimated the cost to my sister and she thought it was too expensive! I will tell people where I acquired it and the components if they ask about something specific. Usually strangers just say "cool bike" and move on.

If anybody really wants to know what I paid for my bike (I only have the one) I'm more than willing to tell them. I paid $60 for it and I promise you don't want it, its about 10 years old or so huffy and more high maintenance than a stripper girlfriend.

i rarely tell anyone how much something costs unless they are truly interested i acquiring a similar item. I was at dinner with friends once. We were talking about riding. Not everyone rode a bike. One of the guys blurted out "how much did your bike cost". I said "yes" rather than tell him it was none of his business. I am also a competitive shooter. The answer would be the same.
