Car Free/Light Facebook Groups?

Morning everyone! Just wondering if anyone can link up Car Free/Light facebook groups? I just joined the forums but my phone doesn't particularly like the set up and keeps crashing for some reason. I was hoping I could connect with a FB group to help expand my knowledge as I work towards a car light life.

AFAIK, there isn't one. I just tried "car free lifestyle" "living car free" "living car free lifestyle" and it kept suggesting "care free" or "carb free".

There's a cargo cyclists group, and active transportation group which includes pedestrians and car-free , another cargo bikes group, and I'm on a couple of local bicycle advocacy groups.

"Care Free" and "Carb Free" are just as much Living Car Free subjects than at least 50% of the interesting discussion topics (i.e political, economic, environmental, simple lifestyle) that are started or injected into LCF group threads.

Your comments, of course, are always right on target.

The OP was inquiring about any LCF content on Facebook. I have a Facebook account, I searched, and reported my findings. Perhaps you'd like to help the OP out and give it a go yourself?

Sorry, I haven't figured out how to link to FB groups on safari, but maybe you can find these ones with the search function. If you find one, you can find others via their FB page.
  1. Carfree... JH Crawford (Crawford is a founder of the carfree movement. He also posts his thoughts on other interests like travel.)
  2. Undriving (Mostly activist, but some tips and advice for carfree living.)
  3. I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride my bike. (That's their name. Not strictly carfree but into everyday cycling. Very fun and upbeat.)

I've just been checking them out myself. The JH Crawford page looks particularly promising. He's now living in Bhaktapur, Nepal.

I don't do Facebook unless my arm is twisted by relatives to find out what is happening.

I'd recommend that the OP check out the commuting or utility cycling forums if she wants practical tips for how to maximize use of her bike for her local transportation needs, regardless if she is "car free" or not. The LCF list may be of more use if she wants to read interesting discussions on lifestyle topics that may (at best) be tangentially related to bicycle use or living car free.

By the way, there is a mobile phone view for Bikeforums. That may work better on your phone than the normal view. It's just not easy to find. Here's a thread with instructions.

Thanks. I've been hanging out here for seven years and never knew that.

I rely more on Twitter than FB for information about cycling and carfree living.
