How many car-free households are out there?

I'm curious how many of the car-free live with one or more other people that are also car-free?

My household is car-free, just me and my elderly mother. I do all the errands and shopping and am employed by a company 20 miles from home. I have a cargo trailer that I use primarily for weekly grocery shopping.

What's your situation?

Edit: I should have made the opening question, how many are in your car-free household?

I live by myself these days. No car. No pets. I work about 4.5 miles from my house. I also have a cargo trailer, but rarely use it these days. Two panniers on a rack hold a lot of groceries.

Just my wife and I, and she still drives, but she has started commuting on the max train so there is always hope.

Me, the husband, a teen, and a tween. We do belong to a car share and also rent a car when visiting far flung relatives. Our daily lives are conducted car free.

Five people, three generations, one car. I don't drive the car but I ride in it for family functions. And it brings my groceries from the store.

For years I was carfree and lived alone.

I live with my partner and three cats. My partner doesn't drive...at all. We are in our 30s.

After getting down to 2-3 car trips a month, buying a house (no more moving yay!), and realizing Wisconsin winters aren't that bad, I sold the car in March. It was replaced with a cargo trailer and a mountain bike, which I mainly use for big grocery shopping and landscaping/home improvement supplies.

I'm joining car share this fall, which will be a backup for getting cats to the vet in bad weather and buying items that weigh more than 125 lbs., the max load for the cargo trailer.

My boyfriend and I live car free. His sister and her girlfriend live up the street and both commute primarily by bike but they do have a old clunker car they use for heavy groceries.

What city do you live in? Sounds like it's really easy to get by w/o a car.

Suburbs of Las Vegas. Technically its the city of Henderson, Green Valley area. Its very easy to get around out here. Very flat and amenities are close by and everywhere. Its only Hot for a few months and the rest of the year is gorgeous. Its a 24 hour place so when it gets hot we don't go outside until after dark or early morning.

Sounds nice. Our situation is similar here in Seville: hotter than hell in July and August. We're getting ready to make our annual migration to our beach house and nice, cool weather.

Welcome to the forum.
