    Liveable streets

Anyone in the Boston area who is interested in car free living, or anyone who is thinking of moving to the area, should look at the following site livablestreets.info . The Livable Streets Alliance promotes a number of events and has a lot of information about non motorized traffic in the area.

    Good information!

Other interesting search terms are "complete streets," walkability," "non-motor plan," and "safe routes to schools". Type any of those terms into a search box, along with the name of your city, town, county or state. You will learn that almost every region has people who are working hard to improve the local infrastructure. You can communicate with those people to get useful information on being carfree in your own area--or join in their efforts to make your community a better place to be carfree or carlight.

    Hi Ironwood,

Thanks for the link. I live in Kenmore Square, and as a common station for three Green Lines on the (T) (subway system), is a premier area for Car Free Living, though my family is car-lite. I myself am a year round cycle commuter to Norwood.

I just posted that link, in particular about the LSA fundraiser in Auburndale. this Saturday, to a colleague who lives in Auburndale, and who has said on a few occasions we should do a ride together. Also, are you familiar with the active, virtual "de facto" Metro Boston Forum, namely a thread on the Regional Discussion Forum, Metro Boston: Good ride today?. I'll send the link to that thread soon, unless you'd like to introduce yourself there.

    Sincerely,

Jim from Boston (aka as JfB, or rarely, James de Boston)
