Yes. It will beep and has an arrow showing the turn. It will sound a beep before the turn and one at the turn. You can set the beeps to different built in beeps. I try to use ones I can hear in traffic. You can see the arrow before you get to the turn or turn warning. You can also set up a data field for "distance to next" so you know how far to the next turn. You can also have it display text so it will say something like turn left on xxx Rd. The eTrex has good battery life and uses AA batteries so I like it better than the Garmin edge.

The only thing I don't like is that if you get off route for any reason wrong turn, turn back or on a side street to stop at a store etc. it will recalculate the route. This may or may not be a problem for you depending if you are trying to follow a route without change or if you don't mind a different way of getting to the destination. If I want to follow a route and not have it change I do one of two things. If will download the route to get the turn by turn and also the track. You can download the route and track from RideWithGPS. The track will not change and I display it on the map as a blue line. If the route tries to have me go someplace other than the blue line I follow the blue line until it recalculates back to the correct route or I use my GPSMAP 64s it has the option to disable auto recalculate. They both use the same mount so I can put on eater one on any of my bikes but the GPS 64s battery life is not as good as the eTrex 20 and it costs more.

What kind of bike mount do you use with the eTrex 20? It looks hard to beat in terms of price and ease of keeping it running with double a batteries.

Yes it's hard to beat. Garmin makes a bike mount that will work on the stem or bar.
