Compass 700C x 26 Cayuse Pass tires

I was thinking of slapping the Compass 700c x 26 Cayuse Pass tires on my carbon fiber randonnuering rig (2010 Giant Defy Advanced). I am looking for tires that will have a bit more grip and cushion for the coming fall and winter rides and these are probably the largest tires my frame will accommodate. Does anyone have experience with these, particularly with regard to flat resistance. I have had great success with my 700c X 23 Hutchinson Fusion Kevlar Pros with regard to flat avoidance.

I haven't used this Compass model but the 650B 42mm and the 700c 32mm tires both have a wonderful ride, great grip and provide great flat resistance.

These are not a puncture resistant tire at the high pressures you need in narrow widths. But I tend to get flats regardless of armor layers.
As a Clyde, I ran the 32mm version at 80psi and used Slime Pro in the tubes, which all but eliminated flats, and made the ultralight tubes hold pressure for months.

I now run the 42mm version at 50psi and find it reasonably puncture resistant with no Slime.

Very true. There seems to be a very strong correlation between air pressure and incidence of flats. I'm not sure there is a scientific study on this put it does seem to be the consensus of popular wisdom...

I have ridden the 700x32, 700x28, and 700x26mm compass EL offerings. I have the fewest miles on the 26mm. Why bother with the 26mm tires in my case since the 28mm and 32mm are more comfortable. No problems with any of them. I rarely flat and life is too short to go slow or ride in discomfort. To be honest, if I need skinny tires I go with something else because then it goes onto a race wheel. I have never compared the Compass Caymus Pass to say Vittoria EVO Open but my guess is that he Compass lasts three times as long, has similar comfort, and is not quite as fast.

I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of Compass 700 x 26 Cayuse Pass tires to put on my 1991 Trek 2100, but hesitate to pull the trigger because the 700 x 25s that are on there now just barely fit. I really like the Babyshoe Pass tires on one of my other bikes though, so I may throw caution to the winds.
