first BRM 200 km - own bike or rented & adapted ?
i intend to finish my first BRM 200km. i'll do it during a holiday in other country. i am a little undecided if i should:
-buy a bag/bike pod/ case and bring my own bike (200E the bag + 50 E transportation)
-i might rent one (75E a weekend +300E deposit) and bring my own saddle and adjustable stem (and may be the tires). then i'll measure all the dimensions of my bike and try to transpose them on the rented one. (servicing the bike is not a problem for me)
any advice ?

Some airlines just have you put the bike in a clear plastic bag with the bars turned sideways and the pedals removed. A friend went from Canada to London with a bike packed like this and had zero problems. Just paid the small fee for the oversized baggage and that was it. It sounds like almost as much work to remove your saddle/stem (pedals?) and put them on a rental. If the airline doesn't require a bag or box then you might be better off to take your own bike. I know I would rather ride my own than some rental bike that has bar tape soaked with other people's sweat and gearing that might not be what I want.

If its not a particularly challenging course I would just hire a bike. I've done this a few times and managed centuries and 200k rides on bikes not properly set up for me.
Contact the club and see if they can arrange a loaner bike.

thanks for replying guys.
the bike is already rented (alloy giant TCR with 105 groupset), but i could cancel it with no fees. my but and my left knee are my main concerns for distances over 100km on unfitted bikes... the route is flat as a pancake, mainly on bicycle lanes.
i do not have the necessary courage to put my DIY carbon bike in a plastic bag... and the airline fee is just 25E/flight.

take measurements of your bike and a tape measure on the trip. I always think I will transfer my position just by riding, it turns out not to be the case most of the time. I wouldn't panic over stem length, but seat height is pretty important. I wouldn't expect much trouble with -2cm on the handlebar position, but the rental place may be able to fit different stems
