Riding my first century in 8 weeks

I will be riding my first century in 8 weeks here in Virginia on the cap2cap century ride.

I have my garmin 735xt that I use now for speed and time but was wondering if I should just get a cadence sensor the is compatible with my nice garmin watch or a wireless computer.

Also I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a grading plan other then the one that I have started using as it not based on hours but based on miles which I hear some people say focus on hours and not miles and others say focus on miles.

I also am practicing my food intake at this time as well.

Any help is welcomed!
