not that long for me (compared to others): 68 miles - did it last night after work with a buddy. it took 4h35m for the out-and-back
longest before last night was about 35 miles. i'm hoping to do more rides over 50 miles and on a couple good weekends hit 100+ miles on a ride. i just started riding in mid-June.

283 miles in 24 hours. heres the break down.
I participated in the 24 Hours of Booty ride in Charlette NC which is a charity event that raises funds for cancer. I had a goal of 300 miles. If I completed it I had a donor who would give donate $3,000. The ride is a 2.97 mile loop in the Queens College area of town. Simple route with two small climbs. The event begins at 7:00 pm Friday and ends 7:00 pm Saturday. Since I came from TX I rode it alone for the most part.
Here’s the stats:
Total distance: 283 miles, that’s the equivalent of riding from Houston to North of the Texas Arkansas border.
Event Time: 24 hours. 7:00 pm Friday – 7:00 pm Saturday.
Saddle time: 18 hours 20 minutes. 5 Hours and 40 min was spent eating, drinking and resting.
Avg course speed: 15.7 mph
Max speed: 38.6 mph (down hill) pedaling as fast as I could around 12:30 pm.
Calories burned: 21,250. You read it right. That’s like eating 135 Twinkies and not having to worry about it.
Leg cramps: None until after the ride having dinner at a hamburger restaurant. I’m sure I looked funny sitting in the chair withering in pain.
Total single day weight loss: 14.69 pounds. Just like prior rides, I will put this weight back on and then some in the coming weeks. This begs the question…is cycling really helping me if I gain the weight back plus a few pounds each time. As I have said before, I need to change my diet..
Flat tires, crashes, or other mechanical problems: ZERO!! Thank goodness.
Sunburn: A little. It was really warm during the day. I lost so much weight through sweating that you could see the salt on my jersey, shorts and everywhere else.
Most inspirational moment: Watching a young man who was in his teens who lost his legs due to cancer in a wheelchair powered by his arms. He would crank the peddles like a bike with his hands to make his chair go around the course. He had three teenage buddies who rode with him at his pace to ensure he was never left alone on the ride. To see this group of young men was inspirational.
The worst thing heard during the ride: “On your left.” I heard that so much on Saturday I wanted to puke. I tried to make a game of it by picking off riders in front of me and passing them but it did not work as the hours dragged by. I was being picked off way more than people I picked off.
Finally, the most important numbers, drum roll please!
Pledge donation total: $5,241.00 and counting.
I lost count of my millage during the ride. I thought I was at 250 plus or minus a few miles. So the last four hours I thought I could not get to my goal so I took it easy. Had I known I was that close I would have pushed harder and gotten the extra 5 or six laps to get me to 300. So much for doing math with little to no sleep and on the verge of total exhaustion. I was so disappointed after I calculated the millage back at the hotel. I need a better plan of the next time to help keep track of laps/mileage when my Garmin powers down.
It was well worth it, I will do anything to help stop cancer.

Okay, this thread is definitely inspiring. I rode 155 miles one day back in '83... and I rode about 140 in April... and 121 last Sunday. But double and triple centuries... right, I'm impressed. I'll get back to you.
Does it count if I do it on a recumbent? After last weekend's neck pain on my touring bike, I'm thinking the 'bent is the way to go the distance.

I've done 4 300km rides around the second largest lake in Sweden. A Beautiful way to spend a day. And some of the night. It's called the Vatternrundan and it's the largest even of it's kind - 17,000+ signed up and 14,000+ finished this year.

I did my first century on Saturday, in the Tour de Rivet in Cambridge, MD!!! I'm glad I can check that off my list after coming close a few times before. My two day total is 143 miles, but this is my best single day by far. 1 down, many more to go! Also, I rode to work today and I my legs feel pretty good.

I just rode 74.8 miles on Saturday. I wouldn't look at the mileage on my comp after 59, my legs were losing their will to cooperate and I had already topped my personal best.

109 miles. 23 months ago. First century. Solo. It was great.
12 months ago, vitually the same course, with 5 others, 108 miles. Unsupported. It was great.
But in my house, I am the wimp, as the wife has done 379 miles in 24 hrs, 15 minutes on the elapsed clock. She wouldn't tell me the in-motion time.

Went 'n done a bunch of "long" ones this month (at least by my standards)
Four between 120 and 195 km, and 200km last Saturday. 200 took 7 hours total, with about 6:45 of saddle time.

1) Congrats on the distance and raising so much for a good cause.
2) 21,250 calories burned is 6 pounds lost if you ate absolutely nothing for the entire ride. I won't guesstimate how much you ate, but let's just leave it at saying 8.7 pounds of what you lost was water. That's over a gallon. Ouch!
Over the weekend I did 250 miles (~9000 elevation gain) in 24h 30m.
I took in around 5500 calories for the duration and only came off the entire affair 2 - 3 pounds lighter than I started. That's an average daily fluctuation for me.

Wow, back-to-back posts....Last Sunday I rode from Seaside, OR to Yachats OR for 139.56 miles. I'm sort of proud of the distance, especially considering the hills (one crazy giant one) but am embarrassed about my speed, 15.6 mph. I'm going to have to devote the fall/winter to getting faster, this is ridiculous....

I accidentally did 120 a couple years ago on a one-night camping ride - pulling a trailer with entirely too much crap on it. 100 was the goal, but the campground was full, the gatekeeper wasn't budging, and I was too hot and tired to argue. Another 20 miles to the next campground. Total elapsed time was dawn to dusk.

110 miles on my mtn bike, 75 miles on my beach cruiser, and on my hybrid, 60 miles on my Miami Sun (standard single speed) trike.

the longest in a single day was 57.09 miles in a hair under 4 hours, i think it was pretty good considering that when i got my bike 2 months ago i couldn't finish a 10 mile ride

119 miles on a 32 pound hybrid averaging 15.2 MPH. To spice things up, the ride was over rolling hills with 7,000' climbing including a climb from sea level to the summit of Cadillac Mountain (1,560'). Second longest was doing the same century again this year totaling 116 miles on a new 81 pound Bionx Xtracycle, averaging 16.3 MPH.

My best single day yet was 300 miles for the LA Grand Tour Triple (Highland Course). 22 hours... Of course, I've done 519 in 47.6 hours (HooDoo 500 last year).
There's hope for me to go longer though... Last weekend I did the first 200 of the FC508 in 11:40. If I can find the right course, I'm sure I can hold that pace for another 12 hours.

Probably about 220km/137m, but that was on the second day of a three day ride into the countryside (as is my wont). I was solo and completely self-supported (food, liquid, bivy, bag, tools, cold/wet weather gear), so it was a pretty rough 220km.

450km in 14 hours 30mins.
Did 650km in 37 hours about 10 years ago. I think that equated to about 500km in the first 24 hour period.
