When sitting hurts.

been having some very very localized sharp pain in the saddle area the last few weeks. not the kind of pain you get early season before the nerves are deadened. More like stepping on a piece of glass, any ideas?

Have you inspected the area to see if you have saddle sores? When you're pedalling and you hit that saddle sore just right, it feels like a knife going into you. Do you make an effort to keep that area clean, or do you sometimes sit around in your sweaty, dirty lycra after a ride?
