SRAM i-light hub
I met a German guy that had a bike with an SRAM i-light hub. He says its "almost" as good as the SON and way better than the new Shimano hub. Since I don't really know what that means, does anyone have any test data on this that is in English? All I can find is German comparisons and I don't speak German. Also, does this mean that the product is European only?

Yeah, but in order to compare you need info on the SON and Shimano units.
If you have found German sites with the info you need try using Babelfish to translate the site for you.

SRAM i-light hub
Here is a link to a PDF straight from the horses mouth:
https://www.sram24.com/newtechdoc/eng...Dynamo3_04.pdf
I would assume that if you really want to buy the product, any dealer that sells SRAM components will be able to order it if they don't already have it in stock:
https://www.sram.com/en/locator/dlocator.php
Sorry, I haven't used one so I can't tell about it compared to the SON or SHIMANO. Wish I had a lighting system like one though......

for more links to add for reference (someone needs to come up with some net-slang for an online thread that is essentially the result of an infinite number of monkeys running an infinite number of searches on Google ...)
Crazyguyonabike review thread (page down about 2/3 of the way -- precis: SRAM is heavier, is just as efficient as the SON when lights are on, but still creates a lot of drag when its lights are off)

if you want to doublecheck Andreas Oehler's figures, here's the VBQ comparison article on generator hubs
