My Century Bicycles:
1966 Raleigh DL-1
1973 Schwinn Varsity
1987 Schwinn Prelude
Added together, they are more than 100 years old so.... Century Bikes
Have you ridden significant mileage with the upright bars? What is your opinion of them?
Just finished a century on this Kona.
The trail from today
1981 Panasonic DX-2000. Seat Tube 66cm c-t. Top Tube 61cm. 52/42 & 11-24 7 speed (not original).
It was forty bucks and now it's finally ready for me to ride the heck out of it. Two weeks until I do the New Haven Century.

The bicycle, the bicycle surely, should always be the vehicle of novelists and poets. Christopher Morley
Here's my new bike, a 2009 Jamis Aurora. My maiden voyage was also my first metric century (101km) and my second ride a week later was 119 km.
These pictures were taken along the 'Route des Champs' (The Golden Waves Cycling Trail) south of Montreal. I hope to tackle a real century this summer...
Nice & flat....
Taking a break while on a training ride for my first century. Three more weeks until race day.

Beautiful new ride you have there! I love the Acorn bags and the Kinesis top tube bag. I just ordered a Kinesis bag myself.
I thought of that while riding my bicycle. ~ Albert Einstein on the theory of relativity
On thursday I did my first Double Century! Yey!
Rideable Replicas. I figure he's probably just trying to be cute, though I hope I'm wrong! One of these days I am going to order their top-of-the-line "Superior" model to ride at our local 115 year old park. Can't imagine putting in a hundred miles on one, though...
bout to do 140mi in a few days...
She's been some trouble for the past few months. Busted up RD, worn out chain, worn out middle chainring. After finally having it all replaced I needed to put it to a serious test. Was the first time that I did a ride longer than 32km, but it was well worth it.
I did 112km in 4 hours, with some serious saddle soreness. Love every minute of it. Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever, right?
Finally I'm allowed to post my baby here:
Ignore the straps. I had it hanging from some hooks on my parents front porch so i could scrub it really good and clean my drivetrain.
Just did my 2nd road century on my 2010 Specialized Allez Comp (bone stock sans rear tire).
Just last month I did a dirt century on my 2010 Specialized Rockhopper (very much not stock, only the frame, fork, cranks and the crappy BB5 brakes remain).
You did a century without a rear tire? Bravo!
Bruce Gordon Rock 'n Road.
The name fits.
I run this bike on fire roads in and around the BWCA, as well as long distance rides.
I use the pictured wheelset on road, with a set of Deore XT/Open Pros with Challenge Grifo 700 x 32 tires off-road, hence the fender line.
This is now my main ride for distance. What a super older frameset!
Adding a Nitto m12 front rack and Brand V bag.

Did 200km in May on this Kona Jake the Snake:
and yesterday, did 185 km on this 80's Bianchi:
165 miles yesterday on my new 'budget' build. Bought the frame in the 2007 Pedal Force group buy. Finally got around to putting it together. Took it out for a 2 mile test ride, then got up the next day and did the long ride. Not the best idea, but the day went great- other than the dang wind in the afternoon when I was worn out. SRAM Red rocks...
I've done quite a few centurys with my franken Masi...Started out as a 1987 Trek 660 but I replaced the frame after bending the original trek frame. 52 40 chainrings with 13 to 19 seven speed cassette. Dura-Ace headset, bottom bracket, seat post and front derailleur, the remainder is the original 600 Ultegra gear. Sadly, it hasn't seen a century ride in about 20 years, but it also hasn't seen it's last century now that I've gotten back into cycling.
