LA area riding

I'll be in the Los Angeles area during thanksgiving, Id like to ride up the coast. Perhaps from Long Beach up to Santa Monica or Malibu. Does anyone know of a good route where there are bike paths? I am not very familiar with the geography so I am trying to do my research and map it out before I leave. Also, if there is an online map of such paths in that area, could someone please send me the link.

Thanks,

Matt

You'll get detailed directions and suggestions if you post this question in the So Cal regional sub forum. There are many forum members there who live in the areas where you're interested in riding.

The coast

Don't start from Long Beach to ride north. There is a specific route for the PCH but it will put you through a few not so bike/people friendly areas to get from Long Beach north to San Pedro. I know this since I have ridden through it a few times and I work near the areas. If nothing else try to start in San Pedro and go north or ride south from Long Beach. The bike lanes and shoulders following PCH south are good and the sights are good too.
