It's been done:
"The first six-day event was an individual time trial at the Agricultural Hall in Islington, London in 1878 when a professional called David Stanton sought a bet that he could ride 1,000 miles in six successive days, riding 18 hours a day. A Mr Davis put up £100 and the stake was held by the Sporting Life newspaper. Stanton started at 6am on 25 February and won the bet in 73 hours, riding on a high-wheeled machine at an average speed of 13½mph."

From elsewhere, I find the apparent record for single-person six-day races:
"At an 1898 6-day "Go as You Please" race in Madison Square Garden, Charlie Miller pedaled 2,093.4 mi. So many of his rivals were hospitalized for exhaustion that public fury just about put an end to the 6-day bicycle races."

Note that these were indoor races on tracks. The 1,000 miles was on a penny-farthing bike, the 2,093 on a diamond-frame.

A friend from England and I were discussing it a few years ago. He'd done it ... a few times I believe, and has no doubt done it again since. When we were discussing it, I was the closest I've ever been to a 1000 mile week with 862 miles for the week.

I'd ridden a bit before the PBP, I'd ridden the PBP, then I rode back up into England, and rode with the one of the CTC groups up there for a Sunday ride ... all prior to starting a tour of Wales.

So yeah, it can be done! If you've got a 1200K lined up for this coming year, that'd be the best time to plan it.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Sounds like an early version of RAAM, but indoors.
