Warm South Central US Century or Double in January?

Warm South Central US Century or Double in January?
I'd like to ride a century per month in 2009, but I'm not a cold weather rider. January and February are two months when I will have a difficult time riding here in Northwest Arkansas. I know I should HTFU, but I really hate riding in the cold and that's not likely to change between now and next year.
I can travel anywhere between West Texas and Florida to find a century or double to ride. I've got the Jalapeno 100 in Harlingen, TX penciled in for February but I'm still looking for a January ride.
Any ideas?

Check out randonneuring (rusa.org) . There are a number of 200k rides in Dallas in January, or you could go to Houston for even warmer weather.

There are a couple 200k's in Florida in Jan., and other rides:

I'm doing the Jupiter 200k on 1/10. Weather is very good here right now, 75 and sunny. Jan. is likely to be good, too. Very low chance of rain. High typically about 70, low 50, although on a few colder days the high might be about 55, low 35.

I have driven to Arkansas as well as Mississippi in February to escape cold weather in St Louis.
Have to ridden the natchez trace route at the south end? I also had pretty fair weather to ride Mt Magazine. I park at Havana and ride to Paris and back. Do you know the areas? You know Grundzki?

I've not driver or ridden the Natchez Trace. I do know the Mount Magazine area but am not sure it's far enough south for me in Janrary or February.
Grundzki? No idea.

In North Texas, the Lone Star Randonneurs do century+ rides nearly every weekend. Most of our rides are 200 Km or so and we have a large number of routes to choose from. Most of these start and end from various points around the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex.
The bulk of these routes are randonneuring "permanents". Riding a permanent only requires that you be a member of Randonneurs USA (rusa.org) and that you make arrangements with the route organizer. Although our routes are no fully supported charity rides, they do have available stops at convenience stores along the way.
If you don't like riding alone, there are almost always other members looking to ride on weekends. We have a discussion list on google groups where our members announce rides they are doing. We welcome new members and are a very friendly bunch.
We also have scheduled brevets, which are similar to permanents, except they are scheduled well in advance. You can see our current schedule at www.lonestarrandon.org. You'll also find a link on that site to our discussion list.
If North Texas is too far north for you, then check out the Houston Randonneurs. They also have a good collection of routes brevets and would welcome you. Their web page is https://www.houstonrandonneurs.org/.
