SR Meter Reads FULL
I finished the last of my SR series this weekend. I targeted 39 hours and hit it spot on.
It was a mostly trouble-free ride. I had one flat(nail). As I was descending Sugarloaf Mountain, in the dark, at 45 mph, in a tuck, I ran accross a pile of sand extending from a driveway. It was a close call, but I was able to stay vertical. Also, some punk in the projects in Apopka tried to chase me down on foot. I don't know what he wanted, but I outran him without spilling my iced latte! Maybe if you pulled your pants up and put on a belt, you could run faster...
Thanks to Machka, Randochap, Matt, Clifton, and others for all the good advice here, which surely helped. My 2009 goal is in the books already. Next goal: (what else?) PBP 2011.

Wow, I haven't ridden a 200k yet this year... April 25 for me to start filling up the SR bucket.
Nicely done.

Congrats. I was out there with you at the same time but did not use my hotel room for anything other than a shower, change and back on the road again ... and now I'm facing another 600k in Gainesville, undecided as to whether I'll get some sleep this time.

I felt like the sleep, even 2 hours, was a plus. I would have slept a bit longer if I wasn't up against the Post Office control time. However, I have no such ride without sleep to judge it against; the longest I rode without sleep was 23 hours. Good luck in Gainesville, and check out the Space Coast ride if you still have the legs after two 600's--May 3.

Tim does a wonderful job. After Gainesville we're heading to our place north of Toronto. I need to have my head examined going from wonderful, warm biking weather to "chance of snow flurries". I should stay here and ride on May 3rd ! However, that's the plan. On the way up we're stopping at our son's in Reading PA and I'm going to do a 200k Permanent in that area next Friday ... with 7500 feet of climbing that too will be quite a change from Florida ! I'll wish that I was back on Sugarloaf "Mountain".
I'm going to find some Brevets in Ontario to ride because I've signed up for the Shenandoah 1200 in June. I can do some training rides on local roads around our cottage (250 miles north of Toronto) but it's not the same as riding to someone else's schedule
Cheers ...
Dave.

Wow, Dave, your schedule is impressive! I thought about Shenandoah, but I'll chose either the Cirque de Cyclisme in Va. or BRAG(unfortunately all the same week, I think). I plan on doing more casual rides and touring for the rest of this year. I'll do another series in 2010 and 2011 to qualify for PBP.
Good luck on the 1200k.

Chewy!
You're "on the road" to Paris.
I'm afraid I've missed the start of the spring series here, due to illness. Hopefully I can get myself in shape for the summer (and praying I have a better winter/spring in '11).
