Trans Canada Trail. HELP!!!
Hi all you savvy bikers out there,
I need your help. I want to do the Trans Canada Trail http://www.tctrail.ca/thetrail.php next summer and I have no idea how to get ready for it. I've never done long distance biking and I can't say that I'm really a cyclist. I can officially say that I've been off training wheels since the age of 4 sooooo...I think I can do it.
What I want to know is HOW DO I DO THIS?
How do I train?
What do I wear?
What kind of bike will last?
What should I know about bike mechanics?
What foods should I eat?
Tell me all of your tips...pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee and thank you.
PS: Going to be living in the UAE for the year and it's like a billion degrees. Are stationary bikes good enough to train on?
I suggest you go hang out in the Touring forum here and check out some journals at www.crazyguyonabike.com. Lots of discussion both those places about all your questions.
Long Distance Cyclist
First, this would be more appropriate for the Touring Forum. If you were planning to ride it like the RAAM, and set some kind of cross-Canada record, that would be a Long Distance type of topic.
Second, good luck with that "trail". There's a thread about it in the Touring Forum, but basically, the "trail" exists in many places more as a figment of someone's imagination.
