Canvas handlebar bags

So they are parafin treated I understand that, but when the parafin wears out I have seen in a few places that they can be re-treated? Does anyone actually know how to do that? Old Iron and a wax block? ship it out? I have always wondered about this. I assume it is like re-treating a London fog trench coat...

I am looking at getting bags like this as the ortlieb are great on the touring rig but just don't like the style... yeah I know style smyle...

ah, Filson, I should have known better.

Second question. Is this a yearly treatment thing like a jacket or is this something as needed.

Not that a jacket isn't as needed either...

That I don't know. I just got my Carradice a few months ago and I've been using a Cordura bag up front.

3:1 beeswax to neatsfoot oil. Heat it up, rub it in, should last years...

The new Brand V handlebar bag at rivbike.com looks very very interesting. It actually mounts to the bar and to the hoods for stability. And the zipper opens towards you. I would've gotten that if I didn't get another bag and rack a month prior to the new ones coming out; it would've saved me a lot of money.
