Epic (bags that is!)

I'm a bag *****, I admit it.
I've been through a healthy selection of bags both front and rear - Jandd, Carradice, Acorn, Ortlieb, etc.

My recent acquisition is a pair of Epic Designs bags - a seat bag and a handlebar harness.
These were acquired with bikepacking in mind... but the seatbag will be used for my long brevets, fleche, solo explorations into the ADKs, etc. When the proprietor of Epic gets back from his trip out of the country I plan on ordering up the 'mini' version of seatbag, which is more inline with a Carradice Barley size and will probably live on my rando rig. The rear bag has a similar capacity in a much nicer form (and with options for compression and tightening up the load) as my old Carradice SQR Tour.

Some pics from a recent quick and dirty S24O to shake out some gear. This package carried everything I needed for an overnight down to the high 20's...

Compressed down for a 'brevet' load:

Having sold my Acorn front bag I've added a Mountain Feed bag to the mix. Perfect for food, camera, tools - whatever. I'm using it for cell phone, camera and food. Operated like a climber's chalk bag, strapped to the stem and bars. Far better (for me) than the various bento box styles I've tried.

Nice setup. I've been interested in the Epic seat bags for some time. What were your overall impressions? Is it just one large compartment? Are there divided pockets or anything? How stable is it on the bike?

I've been looking at a set of these for off pavement riding. I like the idea of being able to use the thudbuster seatpost with the saddle bag.

Do you think they would hold enough for multi-day trips?

I really like the seat bag and think the mini would be just right. However, I can't find any prices on the site.

thats why i bought mine.
if i had added my jandd frame pack for tools and stove, and had not been carrying clothes to be comfortable into the 20s overnight... yes. adding this to my rando rig for brevets and such - but the main use will be fast dirt / paved touring.

overall impression is fantastic.
the seat bag is 1 pocket. i use stuff sacks inside.

the front harness is available with the small pocket (just right for me) or a larger pocket (think camera, keys, maps, etc. etc.)

I also have the Carousel Design Works large saddle bag. It is surprising how similar the designs are. I wonder who created the design first. Either way it is a great design. Lately I have been using my Carradice Nelon Longflap and Bagman rack to carry a change of clothes and some food on Sundays riding down to build some furniture with my dad. For centuries I have fallen in love with my Jandd frame pack (excellent and versatile bag for the money). The Carousel bag hasn't seen as much use for some reason.
