I don't know how long it's been up; I just noticed. It seems like a good idea. It helps to point out the difference between this forum and the touring forum. I'm all about rando, so I love seeing that up there. But...
...Someone has to say it--Randonneuring was spelled wrong, no? I still like the new name.
(Edit-the spelling is correct now; thanks, unter!)

I just noted to the other mods that "long distance" brings a lot of people that would be better off in touring. Personally, I find the touring forum to be fascinating and there are a lot of very experienced people there that never post in here.

Yes, you're right ... Randonneuring is spelled incorrectly. There should be a double "n".
And the Long Distance forum is more closely related to the Road forum than to the Touring forum. Lots of Road forum people ride metric centuries and centuries, and train for longer distance events etc. ... which is what the Long Distance forum is all about too. Whereas touring is more about travelling/vacationing ... by bicycle rather than by car.
I enjoy touring ... and I enjoy long distance cycling. But they are two very different types of cycling.

about the only compensation for being a mod is that I can get rid of extra apostrophes and the spelling of randonneuring, but I didn't notice this one

well, I had to PM an admin to change it, I can't change the forum titles. I can change thread titles though. I can edit posts too, but I probably wouldn't do that.
