2010 Zhejiang Sunrise to Sunset: A 12-hour Bike Race in China
Total distance: 260 kilometers
Total elevation: 1,600 meters
When? - June 15th, 2010
Starting points: West Lake (Hangzhou), or Shaoxing downtown
Finishing point: Shangyu city
Entry fee: RMB120 or US$ 20. This includes: one lunch, drinks along the way, one long-sleeve bike jersey, and insurance
Contact: Aaron, email: aaronzy@gmail.com, tel: 0086-138 0651 0863
Starting time is 4:30am on June 15th, 2010. Participants can choose to start from either Hangzhou or Shaoxing. The two groups will meet at Diankou town, our first feed point, at around 6am. The peleton will then roll on to Zhuji. Shortly after that, the main challenge of the day (which is climbing the famous Kuaiji Mountain (Kuaiji Shan会稽山)) will be enjoyed by the bikers. Following that is a quite scenic and enjoyable downhill cruise of around 20 kilometers. At the end of the downhill ride is the birth place of Yue Opera (Yue Ju越剧), one of the most popular local operas in China. The rest of the route is basically flat.
Over 90% of the ride will be quite relaxed. This is a GREAT opportunity for endurance sports fans to see the most beautiful part of rural Zhejiang.
