Endurolyte Dispenser?
I'm switching from Nuun to Endurolyte capsules as part of the transition to a Camelbak for our longer tandem rides. I don't want to put anything but water in the Camelback. Putting the tiny capsules in a plastic bag is really a pain for one-hand retrieval. Anyone come up with a dispenser for these sorts of items? I'm thinking of a small plastic bottle with a short section of hard plastic straw glued into the top. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

I use a Nuun bottle

I was using the electrolyte Hammer pills stored in empty Nuun bottle in jersey pocket on the last 1000k ride. I just reach in the pocket with one hand, open the cap with a thumb , tilt the bottle , get one pill, close the bottle and back into the pocket. I tried small plastic bottle with a screw cap, but it was not as easy to unscrew as the Nuun bottle's cap.
Another option is to put one of those small bento bag on top tube and keep the pills in open small plastic bag or box. It is easy to retrieve the pill if the box is open and the bag is closed with one hand. You could even keep a few pills loose in the bag. I prefer Nuun bottles though.

The Nuun bottle or equivalent makes a lot of sense; I'll try this on Saturday's 100K. Long term maybe I can find something with a captive snap-on cap. On my single this would be a non-problem, but when we're grinding at 4 mph on the tandem for 30 minutes I need something that doesn't take much concentration.

Hammer nutrition makes a plastic bottle specifically to carry endurolytes. It is made of plastic and has a flip-off top that stays attached to the bottle when opened. It is easily operated with one hand and fits into a jersey pocket. It will 20+ capsulres. It is available on the Hammer web site for $0.50.

Hammer also has those plastic coin purses for $.99. Buy a few of those, too. I keep one up my shorts leg in good weather. It's easy to tease out a cap or two with one's tongue, one handed. For long brevets, also bring the tubular bottle for the mother lode. On a tandem it's less of a problem as stoker can hand you a capsule and then a bottle. Hmm. Maybe I need to train Stoker to put the caps right in my mouth!

Hammer tends to throw in that .50 bottle whenever I order a jar of endurolytes. I can get 23 capsules in it. But I suggest 20-21 max if you hit the caffeine hard in the morning. You might lose a few being jittery on the bike. Not that I've done that.

I keep them in a Warfarin bottle. I've got a million Warfarin bottles now, and they are a nice size for carrying things like electrolyte tablets and painkillers on long rides ... quite small.

Nice to see there's other people out there repurposing empty pill bottles. I use my fiancee's empties for Endurolytes in a larger size bottle, and Ibuprofen and caffeine tabs in a smaller one. They're also not bad for toting extra chamois creme.

Pill bottles are great ONCE you get past the child-safety cap!
Will these things fit in a Pez dispenser?

I use a plastic film roll container. Remember those things? Small and fits in your jersey pocket without taking up too much space. Easy to remove and put the cap back on while riding too.

Wouldn't tic-tac containers or IceBreakers tins work? Both have flip-open latches, the icebreakers have a bigger opening.

If you don't have kids, you can get your pills in jars with non-childproof lids. If you can find a pharmacy that uses the Rexam 1-clic vials, they come with a lid that goes on one way and is child-resistant; flipped over, it's just a screw cap. (Backpackers like them, because you can put two bottles together with one cap, which is useful for saving space, but also insuring the two parts stay together. I used to keep my emergency fire startering kit in a pair like that. Lifeboat matches on one side, grease soaked cotton balls on the other.)

A Bento box is really great for Endurolytes and your gel flask. Not only are they easy to get to, but you remember to keep taking them.

I use an empty Ice Breakers mints container. Flip top, wide mouth. Very flat and fits in a jersey pocket.
I can use it one handed by opening the flip up door with my teeth. I have logged thousands of miles with these holding my Endurolytes.

deetto on the Ice Breakers container. Works great. Plus it looks like I'm carrying a can of chewing tobacco in my back jersey pocket...

I've been successful so far using a modified Nuun bottle, but the Ice Breakers container sounds like a winner. I'll have to try it.

I used a Mentos gum container on my last century, which also happens to be my first century! It worked very well.

I use those little green boxes that tube patches come in - pretty easy to pop the lid one handed, they probably dont hold as much as a mento tube.
