How would you train for this even 100 mile Mt bike -

Hello all I figure i should put this out there. Lutsen Ski resort in Minnesota just started this cool race.
Its a long distance mt bike race around the north shore of Minnesota

www.lutsen99er.com/

check it out

99 miles of mt bike race, I just heard about it one week prior, did not go. But intend to for 2012.

I figure i help them out and post a link here to get more people interested.

I like to know how would one train for this one.
Seems unique.
thanks

Ride your bike a lot. If you've never done any mountain biking you'll want to start doing some off-road riding. I'd head up to blue mountain or any of the other mountain biking ski hills in Ontario (Glen Eden/Kelso has trails) and get riding. Start small and work your way up, it's not really any different than any other kind of riding... there are a couple of great spots around here too, if you're in my neck of the woods check out hydro cut and gorba. For more training goodness ride to the trailhead instead of driving.

Sound really good. I ride lots already and used to race locally before. but no 100 mile mt bike, but like to try it
I was looking at the results of that race that was held in Minnesota

The top finisher did the course in 6 hours and a few minutes
last finisher was around 9 hour mark

for someone to ride that long, if u either do it in 6 hours, 7 or 8 etc.
Is it possible for many to ride non stop 100%
like train yourself to ride non stop for 6 hours +
or would even at that aspect
it be best to even stop a few times for a few seconds here and there?

thanks
