Any recommendations for a 32mm (or thereabouts) 700c tire?

Intended use: riding a 1200K in Uzbekistan, over legendarily lousy pavement. I believe all the roads are paved; just very, very poorly maintained.

I'm typically a 23mm guy. Done nearly every brevet on Conti 4000s. Great tires. I like skinny tires.

Bit I've been running some (allegedly) 28mm Conti 4-seasons lately, thinking that would be a good choice. They're cushier than the 4000s, by far, but they strike me as a bit on the narrow side and I think I want something that'll eat up more potholes and shattered pavement than these things will.

I've got CX tires in 35 and 38mm... but I don't need all that tread. Or want all that weight. It's gonna be dry (it's a desert). I need something that'll take some abuse, but I don't need the traction.

Thoughts?

Consider a Schwalbe Kojak in 700x35C. With folding bead it's only 330 grams. I have almost 4000 miles on a set with no flats yet. But my riding is non-urban. FWIW.

i've been using serfas tuonos on my tandem in the 700x32 size, still light and fast for a 32, so far, so good. would also look at the vittoria hyper randonneur.

i did not like the schwalbe marathon racers, they felt slow and were squirmy feeling in the corners.

Toured the Czech Republic on a loaded tandem, all up weight about 390 lbs., about 650 km., on 28c Vittoria Rubino Pro Tech. Cobblestones, bad pavement, some serious rocky stuff, no flats, almost no cuts, and not that much wear, considering. Reasonably fast tires.

Ive used/been using the Vittoria Rando Hypers in 32 and 35, great tires. I switch back and fourth between my tubular race wheels with 24mm Veloflex Rubaix's and its hard to tell the ride difference, other than the width feels safer. Good ride.

Now here's an example of a ride I'd be doing on 650b's, 42s would soak up that stuff nicely.

But whether they're durable enough for a ride like you're planning, I have no idea. They're a pretty fast tire, perhaps that makes them more susceptible to sidewall damage.

Continental makes gatorskins in 700x32. I've used them in 28 width, and like them

You can get the Panaracer Pasela in up to a 700x35 size. Most people I know who have used them, love them.

The Ribmo are heavier than Tserve and Pasela TG so i wont get them.

Yet another option, looking at who these tires are designed for they are without a doubt comfy and durable. I know a guy who used the ruffy tuffies and he liked them although said they were certainly slower than his GP's. https://www.rivbike.com/product-p/t100-g.htm

I am no expert and have only ridden up to 55 miles a day so far, but I like and have no complaints with my Panasela TG 32mm (which measure out to about 32mm) and my T-Serve 28mm (which measure out to about 30mm).

THe TG come in the gumwall + black color and the TServe come in black, red and blue.
So you might have a color preference.

The difference between the two tires is subtle in how they ride i feel. I think the TG are a little more cushiony and the Tserve are a little bit more sporty feeling.

I have never tried Ribo but i wont get them becauase they are heavier.
I have never tried Ruffy Tuffy but I am sure they are similar to the 2 I have.

+1 I've had zero flats with the Rando Hyper and the ride and easy rolling qualities of the tire are outstanding.

The Grand Bois tires are great. In 700C x 32mm, there's the Cypress which purportedly rides as nicely as the Challenge Pari Roubaix, but don't have the reliability issues.

The Vittoria Randonneur Hyper is great.

I currently have Pasela TG 32mm on my 700C bike and they ride fine. I wish I could get them with the folding bead, without the TG, but such is life. Panaracer has had them in that configuration on their site.

I've started using the Vittoria Randonneur 32c's at 70psi on my cross / general purpose bike.

They are a bit more comfortable than the Conti 28c GP 4 Seasons. But if the roads are really nasty, I'd be tempted to look into a light-weight suspension system.

Oh no. I just got a 32mm set of these mounted about 3 weeks ago. So far, I really really like them.

Looking at Vittoria's website, though, the Voyager Hyper seems to be the identical tire. If not just a re-name, at least it's a very similar tire as best as I can tell.

are you sure? i just looked and they offer three sizes for the voyager hyper:
32 (350g)
37 (395g)
40 (440g)

550 is for the regular voyager
