VT 400k

I organized the NERds VT 400k this past weekend. We had near perfect weather (it could have been 5-10 degrees cooler mid day...), blue skies, and quiet roads.

258 miles, ~16k (some folks reported more) climbing.
Start in Waterbury, ride clockwise around the state through Montpelier, Roxbury, Bethel, Barnard, Woodstock, Springfield, Saxtons River, to Putney, our halfway control. Then head back in via Newfane, Townshend, Grafton, Chester, Ludlow, Killington, and the Mad River Valley.

12 starters
9 finishers
2 DNF due to cramping and heat, the third was just done riding his bike

First riders in 16h51m.
2 riders mid pack ~22h.
Final 3 in 24h2m.

(I got to head home 3 hours early!!!, except as I was napping at home my 2nd DNF called from the hotel he booked in Ludlow and needed help getting back to the start as he still wasn't able to get back on the bike... so I added another 180 miles to the car fetching him...)
