Finally a long-distance challenge I can attempt. I ride very few English centuries, but quite a few metrics (30+ in 2014), and gobs of half-metrics since my commute distance is right at 50 km. January and February are the hardest months to reach 1000 km for me, due to the weather, but I am usually close. Perhaps this will provide the little extra motivation needed to reach that in winter months.

If there was a Metric a Month challenge, I would own that!

Just did the last 40km this evening to get to the 1000km this month, was quite epic, raining and pieces of hail but had to round the 1000km

Yeah! I managed to total of 1129 km in March, helped by a 300 km brevet that I successfully completed together with my son last weekend. He's 21 and it was his first brevet.

Over 1000 km per month is rare for me. Last year I only cracked it once, with 1038 km in September, including three rides of 190 km, 188 km and 210 km. In 2013 I managed in twice, with 1004 km in August and 1418 km in September (including a 600 km brevet).

This month I'm signed up for a 400 km, so with a few weekend centuries like in March I think there is a good chance I'll manage it again.

    First quarter 2015
    January-683.41 miles
    February-689.19 miles
    March-1,203.08 miles
I am off to a good start. Here in CO, January and February are the tough months to get the miles in because of ice and snow. I some how managed to squeeze them in.

March was a bit nasty here with 5 days of rain and some low 30s F at end but I managed 681 miles. Looking back over the past
15 years, most years are in the 300-400 mile range in March, but I hit 647 in 2000. My annual has been 4000-5000 for most of
the 2000s but hit 6500-7000 a few times in late '90s and again for first time in 2014. This year just under 1800 so far.
thrllskr rides in conditions I would never get out of the house for.

Haha sch- I have tried riding in the humidity... I most likely feel the way about your conditions in the summer as you do mine in the winter.

My 1,000K per month goal didn't last very long, victim to a series of winter storms we had in February. Through the middle of the month, I was on target to easily top 1,000 Ks but then we had a series of snow, sleet and ice storms that made our streets almost unride-able the last two weeks of February. Fortunately the weather has been much more forgiving before and since then, and I rode 1,346 K in March and 1,260 K in January.

Are you going to do the April 11th Morrisville 200k brevet? (27th ANNUAL NCBC BREVET SERIES)

[The location on the website is correct, but the cue sheet and maps have not yet been updated to account for this year's detours -- RBA Alan and I truck-scouted the route(s) yesterday (Apr-02), and the updated cue sheet and map for the 200 should be posted in the next day or so.

FYI, one of the detours this year is that the route will go up Lystra instead of Jack Bennett. So ... if you'd like to climb "Col de Lystra" 17-miles into a 200k, and then descend Lystra with only 17-miles remaining ... now is your chance.]

One other thing: the website URL proclaims that this will be the 27th annual Raleigh Region brevet series; however, the text on the website indicates 32nd year. ... ... And I think I need to call Alan later today to help with the arithmetic: the first Raleigh Region series was in 1983 --> that makes this the 33rd year.

[For those of you with the RUSA Handbook handy: the pre-RUSA history chapter several times mentions 2 New York brevet sites and one in North Carolina operating all during that mish-mash that was the Internation Randonneurs wild-west days (i.e., pre-RUSA). That one NC site was/is the Raleigh Region.]

So how are your stats for this month?
I ended up with 1350km, the weather helped a lot, didn't encounter that much rain.

Second month in a row with over 1000 km. I started the month with a 460+ km ride on the first weekend as a preparation for this year's 400 (April 18/19), which I successfully completed.

I was already over 1300 total after last weekend when a friend invited me to a weekday ride for today. So I took a day off work for a beautiful ride in the mountains on forest roads closed to traffic. 1483 km in April. I could have done those extra 17 km before midnight, but then again I'm not a Strava slave ;-)

Huh, I just realized, if I make a 30 km detour on my way home tonight, I'll be up to 1000 km for the month. If we include commuting miles, that is. Well, it's a nice day, I'll give it a try.

1486km this month, fell short of the 1000 mile goal with a DNF on Saturday but still a personal-best for me so it's not really something I'm upset about! I didn't add in any commuting mileage since it's so many short trips I don't think it amounts to much of anything.

I've only been able to put in a 1094km in April and 1296km in May. The month before that it was only commuting and in the 500 range. Going for a 1000 in June again after I've done a 197km ride yesterday.

Third month in a row with over 1000 km in May. I was already up to about 800 km when I participated in a 600 km brevet on the last May weekend. I DNF'ed but still rode 498 km, including 330 km in the first 24h of the ride. June will be low mileage for me due to business travel, so no 4th month in a row above 1000 km.
