Got any long distance cycling goals for 2015?

(I've ridden very few brevets, and nothing longer than 300k, since 2005.)

I have three on-topic goals:
1. Continue monthly Imperial centuries; at least one of them on a fixed gear bike.
2. Add a metric century or two every month, mostly on fixed gear;
3. One 300k or 200 mile ride.
I have off-topic goals as well, such as to do a multi-day tour, but that's for another forum.

Right now, I don't have specific goals. I am planning to travel a bit more, and hoping to do the Florida 1200k, but both are rather indefinite at the moment. Will continue doing local riding like the last couple of years, though.

I want to do my first century ride this year. For some of you that may not be a huge goal but to me it is something I've wanted for a few years now.

My targets are the same as most years, with appropriate tweaks:
- Ride some new roads, whether on brevets or not
- Enjoy PBP and other long brevets with friends, new and old
- Do enough other rides and events that brevets don't become routine/ boring
My other long distance cycling goal is to ride at least 10% of Steve Abraham's total distance for 2015. That'll be plenty enough for me.

My goals for 2015 are modest:
- Ride at least one metric every month
- Ride two week-long bike tours and several weekend tours

At the moment we have one main goal ... ride a Metric CAM (at least one 100K each month).
Some of those metric centuries may be longer rides ... I'm hoping we'll get a few imperial centuries in there ... maybe even a 200K ... and just possibly a 300K ... but the base goal is at least one 100K each month.
I'm also tossing around a few secondary goals ...
-- maybe a climb up Mt Wellington. A person could cycle from sea level to the top of Mt Wellington (1271 metres) ... several cyclists do that each year. Some do it several times. From where we might park to the top of Mt Wellington and back would be about 40 km, so that's 1271 metres up in 20 km (average 6.35%, I think) ... and then, of course, a long decent back down again.
-- I'd like to do a 1000 km month at least once this year ... that might not happen until October or November, but I'll see what I can do.
-- I'd like to average 100 km/week over the whole year. The last two years, I've been averaging just a bit over 50 km a week. Some weeks have been really good, but there has also been a lot of time off the bicycle for one reason or another.

2014 was my first year randonneuring. 10 down for an R-12.
2015:
1) finish my last brevet for an R-12 in february (just did january's ride two days ago).
2) fleche, if it falls in the cards.
3) SR series. i'll have to take it one ride at a time, though.... i have some lingering knee problems that started on my first 300k last year, and am worried they will creep up once again on (the longer) brevets. i've never ridden a 400k or 600k before, so i am crossing my fingers my knees can hack it...

I did my first ride over 100 miles last year with a few 200k rides, 8-day 800 mile solo tour, Death Ride, 3 CA triple crown rides, and 3-day 440 mile solo ultralight tour.

The primary goal for me in 2015 is to do a "REAL Charlie Miller" at Paris-Brest-Paris. Miller's greatest accomplishment in completing his 1901 PBP ride (finishing 5th, and the first American to complete the ride) was that he did it completely unsupported. In order to truly honor his memory, I sincerely believe that the ride needs to not only be completed in or under his finishing time (56 hours, 40 minutes, 40 seconds), it needs to be completed totally unsupported. This means nobody meeting you at a control to pass off water bottles or food, nobody giving you massages along the way, and no drop bags. I buy all my own food and supplies along the route, I do all the bike repairs. Really simple. And, just as an aside, I'm also planning to do this on the fixed gear (I did the 2011 PBP on a fixie in under 65 hours, but I slept both nights). The freewheel was invented in 1899, so I'm sure Miller must have used a single-speed freewheel, but he was also a trackie (he won the single-rider NY 6-day at Madison Square Garden in 1897 and 1898, as well as the first of the two-man MSG 6-days partnered with Frank Waller in 1899) and may conceivably have ridden a fixie in his PBP.
A secondary goal, while in France, is to go up Mt. Ventoux four times. There is a special randonneur award that goes to anyone who goes up Ventoux on each of its three paved roads, as well as on the gravel "forest road." This will also be on the fixie. It's been done on a fixie before, there's an account by Paul Rozelle on the internet of his ride, so I'm just joining the club. Unlike Mr. Rozelle, who did his ascents prior to PBP, I'll be doing mine in the week after, so it should be interesting.
The third goal is to set a fixed gear record for the Silver State 508. This will be about a month after PBP and Ventoux, but I think this will be an easier ride (less climbing) than last year's tough Hoodoo 500 (for which I hold the fixed gear record, thanks to being the ONLY rider to do it on a fixie! So far this is the case for the Silver State 508 as well - no one has ridden this new course on a fixed gear). I'd like to do this in the new randonneur category (no following car) - much simpler and cheaper, and they let you use drop bags.
Needless to say, all the PBP qualifying rides this year will be on fixed gear.

I completed 600 K Brevet this past weekend. Riding time 30 hours + few more for rest etc. Very good experience. I was riding slow because my two buddies were with me and one was always thinking of quitting. But looks like I am prepared for 1000. Need one more night and a day. So need to practice / train for No sleep at all.
I just need 400 K ride for PBP, as only SR's can go there. One is coming up next month in Goa. Will do that. After 600, 400 should be OK I believe.
Goal :
1. 1000 KM Ride this year.
2 .Ride in PBP
3. One ride of 200 KM + every month and minimum 2 100 KM every month.
4. Improve on speed
I just need 400 K ride for PBP, as only SR's can go there. One is coming up next month in Goa. Will do that. After 600, 400 should be OK I believe.

...both of which are only possible if I don't get injured or killed
- Do a few 3000+ m elevation gain rides (e.g. sea level-Mt Fuji 5th stage-sea level)
- Properly prepare for 400 km and 600 km brevets this year (DNF'ed last year)
- A multi-day trip would be nice

2. Someone that realized a bit before doing the Natchez 1500 that K-Hound was attainable, and decided he'd go for exact so as to not waste any energy. Jerry P, 2014.
3. Someone that started having physical issues and about late October realized he could get to 10K exact with the "right" combination of about 5 or 6 more rides. Mick H, 2014.

Then ... the above mentioned Jerry P insisted said 2012 aspirant HAD to do the NC-year-end-rando-party Pop, which would have been okay except that the RUSA reviewer screwed up the distance analysis and ... further thoughts redacted ... and then ... said NC rando wanted to be there for his friend Robert's K-Hound moment & then other friends wanted to ride with said NC rando for his K-Hound moment, and in the final analysis, riding with friends is better than 10K exact.
Said 2012 NC rando that failed at 10K exact? Me.
