Back pack for Urban commuters

Hello, This weekend a team assembled in DC with a focus on designing a backpack specific for urban commuters. Please take 5 min to fill out this survey.

Any input, please feel free to add below. I dont want to say too much at this time because I'd prefer not to impact your responses, but I'll answer any specific questions below.

Thank you for your response. This project is a practice in starting a company and is not an actual company. We are gathering validation for our product would be viable. As this is for academic discussion, we will post our findings afterwards.

I rarely carry clothing with me other than overnight trips. So the clothes aren't a primary concern. I do occasionally carry shoes. So, shoe pockets? Again, not the primary use of the pack (errands and carrying misc stuff plus bike tools).

Padding is nice for the back. Maybe some kind of rigid structure. There is nothing worse than something that jabs the middle of the back from the pack. But, I also don't want to pay a singifant weight penalty, and realize backs are different as well as how one sits on the bike.

I normally don't use the strap between shoulder straps, but I recently injured my shoulder and found those to be comfortable.

WATERPROOF for Oregon. Or, perhaps at least a few waterproof pockets.

Reflective tape or a reflective triangle on the back would be very nice. Also perhaps consider a good place to clip a light.

Survey wording is quite pejorative to skew responses in favor of your solution, or at least of needing one; reminds me of push polling. You should give up design and switch to poli sci
