Rewind for the last two climbs up the Paterberg. I want to borrow his engine, just for one day.

Woke up several times in the middle of the night. A lot of stuff hurt. I try to avoid NSAID's but I popped a couple of Aleve's so I could get a decent night's sleep. Woke up to a wet 47 degree morning. My schedule reads:

BT: Ride a hilly course aggressively, especially on hills. 2 hours. This may be a group ride so long as it is a fast group. Intensity factor (IF) should be >80%.

This is what I feel like doing:

My IF was .84 this morning. I think there's a wee difference in our NPs, though...

Okay, so here I am craving a hard ride and I get a rest day, while Ex wants to curl up with Ridley but assigns himself a kick-ass workout that doesn't even exist on my schedule? What's up wit' dat?

I'm going to adhere to the letter of my schedule, but not the spirit, by playing tennis with TallWife, and then maybe some hiking on Piestewa Peak

Rainy Easter Sunday. Listening to the sound of rollers as my wife crushes a workout prescribed by an Overlord.

Or not.

Tomorrow looks much more favorable from a weather standpoint, and from my body needing some rest standpoint. Plus Mrs. Ex is here today and gone back east tomorrow.

Watching the Ronde cost me a day's training. Worth it, though. Back on the road tomorrow.

Unsurprisingly, TallWife kicked my butt on the tennis court.

Agree. Just had a conversation about this in the pro cycling forum. Young men seem to have difficulty with the idea that women are people.

But part of the solution, in this instance, is for cycling to get out of the 1950s and do away with all this podium girl crap. It's pathetic.

Cav, for all his shortcomings, is a little less crass than Sagan. As for running the UCI, I would do an excellent job.

Well, let's see.

You are nominated to run the UCI. Do you

a) Send a case of whiskey to each voting member of the board

b) Send an envelope full of money to each voting member of the board

c) Petition each member of the board regarding your qualifications

Of course all three are trick answers. The correct answer would be to send each voting member a case of single malt scotch in a box stuffed with money PRIOR to your nomination, while telling the press how your Olympic ban has been misunderstood.

Plus, given the fact that the sport is dominated by Europeans, demonstrating that one knows that real whisky is spelled without an e.
