I'm either going to have a choice to make within the next 24 hours or it is going to blow up in my face. Kinda like the way I race most of the time. Attack, stay out, win. Or not.
I had a long, heart to heart with the CEO today about their salary structure. He was the one that told me that it is going to eventually bite them in the ass.

Well, I know not everyone likes reading about stuff like this, but a teammate just shared a link covering a crash yesterday at one of the local hammerfest group rides. He said his pack antenna were jingling, so he backed off from the front of the pack just before the lead rider went down, at 32mph. 20 of the 50 rider pack went into the pile. 2 people hospitalized. Says it was the worst he's ever seen, and he's been racing a really long time.

The ride is one where many people treat it like a race; it's more of a peloton than a paceline. Ride has been happening for many years, and the local cops tend to shepherd the group rather than restricting it, so for much of the route the pack takes the whole lane. There is a 30 minute flat section with no lights, and it typically averages over 30 for that section. The crash happened 20 minutes into that leg. Ex, it was Peter that would have been part of it had he not read the potential correctly: too many new faces; people on the ragged edge pushing too hard; multiple lines at that speed rather than stretched out single file (fighting for the lead). Bad Juju.

Thanks everyone. I am mostly glad this chapter of my life is over. This may not be the last job in my career but that's not important now. There is a lot of work to do. I start on the 19th.

Presentation went well today. We know there will be some challenges, but I have a green light to pull folks together and pursue my proposed approach. Full speed ahead.

Congrats my friend!
Az, Peter's got good radar. Probably enhanced from hitting the deck earlier in the year. It's so rare that I do those rides these days...

Outstanding!!!!!! It feels good to feel good for two friends. I'm so happy for you, and Shovel!! I'll have some wine in your honor - wish I could share it with you.

I love it when professional plans come together. Great news from AzTR and shovelhd on the same day. Now that's good Juju!

Now that my A events are behind I took out the MTB to begin saddle time for the Iceman Cometh race in November. The thumb shifter has been sticking and I thought that I could open it up, lube it, and be out the door and on my way. Well, things didn't go well and I ended up with a coil spring in my hand. After 15 minutes of trying to put the shifter back together I took the bike to the LBS. The store was closing soon and I decided to leave the bike with them and asked about a tune-up. The mechanic looked the bike over and that is when the oh-oh's and oh-no's started. The bike is three years old but I have not had the shock serviced, bottom bracket serviced, brake pads replaced or hydraulic system serviced. The “ouch factor” will exceed $300.
