Great news.

We woke to see the work of snow fariys who were busy over night. Snow rollers are most everywhere there is open space. These ones are about 16" tall.

I've been tinkering in Sara's Secret Ladies Lab for the last couple of years and this Old Girl is the result...she'll be completed some time in the next couple of weeks.

Big RR down in Tucson Sunday, on a brand new course. The makeup of the 55+ pack this year has changed the dynamics quite a bit. Lots of fast guys with strong TT ability, and when that is combined with the presence of a dominant sprinter, well, things get animated. Everyone is loving it... well... except the sprinter. He doesn't do road races, but I still expect things to heat up early Sunday, and for it to be a fast race. I've talked strategy with Ex, and let my teammates know how I see us approaching the race. We are going to have to really read things quickly and accurately. I'll be driving the course Saturday night to pick out likely launch points for us. Gonna be fun!

Got a call from my wife during a training session for my job - water spewing somewhere. I came home thinking I didn't make it through this cold snap without a burst pipe after all. Turned out I was wrong; one of the previous owners had cut off and capped a copper hot water line that once led somewhere. The fitting holding the cap had corroded and split. Instead of doing my assigned 2x20' threshold intervals, I was trying to hold an unanchored 3/8" copper line with one hand and hacksaw it with the other. Took me two tries to find an unbent section (so the compression fitting would fit) and hacksaw it straight. I finished at about 7:30. My wife is still amazed that I can do this stuff. We've only been married just under 34 years.

Sweet looking ride.
You going to get it appraised and insured for that amount?

Great that you can surprise her after that long, eh?

I've used compression fittings a couple of times when the situation made sweating a fitting problematic, and not had problems, but they make it hard for me to sleep at night. Fears aren't always rational.

The new Pex fittings work on copper, CPVC and Pex tubing. Amazing things they are! I recently built a full bath in my son's basement in a 6' x 6" area using the Pex fittings and supply lines. It took about 2 hrs to cut, install and hook up everything inclulding the shower valve assembly, toliet shutoff and sink shutoff's. I was even able to cut 3" from the copper 1/2" supply line and insert the Pex T fitting. If you need to remove a fitting or take apart something all that is needed is a little horseshoe shaped tool to compress the O ring.

IBO, thanks! It's probably worth $4 to $5K. There are a number of the classic CA/CB/CL 250/305 Hondas out there. For insurance, I'll just do liability and uninsured on it. I don't intend to ride it often, just on special occasions. It's far too nice and I've had it far too long to risk anything happening to it. Honestly, these days? I'd rather ride my bicycle!

AJ, the fish look great.

AzTR, the tattoo looks like it's 3-D. It's a little creepy. Reminds me of some urban legends from years ago when some Communist Bloc cyclist supposedly told an American that they had deer tendons or ligaments transplanted into their legs.

AJ, the one in his left hand! FedEx is fine

AzT....what Cleave said, although I do like it. I had to look twice to see if 1) it wasn't real and 2) what exactly it depicted. I always suspected you were Borg. No, I will NOT be assimilated.

AzT - I can't remember, do you already have a plate in that shoulderblade? THat's gnarly!

In other news I switched to 165mm cranks and had a new bike fit yesterday. Too bad there's so much snow, and more in the forecast, I can't wait to ride the new position and see how it handles. I already know it's good on the trainer.

Yep, and this means it stays in, supplemented by nano-fusion-watt-generator (NFWG) I had installed. They say that once I get the hardware in my legs too, it will make me a sprinter.
