Absolutely, valygrl. Right in my wheelhouse, as far as training goes. Someday, I plan on breaking 5 hours.

Oohh, that looks fun...I had to google it, didn't know about it. I suppose I'd have to change out my 11-23 crit cassette?

I actually was thinking about going to Idaho this weekend to visit family...it just so happens that I could hit up a Sat and Tues crit in SLC...I figure others should be given the chance to pick on me too...

Oh and by the way the climbfest would be fun...but absolutely contrary to my (to date completely unsuccessful) training plan.

Below is a pic of a bike for R'Ex when he gets old. It will compliment his Prius in that it has electric drive and regenerative braking. The couple on the bike is Bill and Jan who own Santana Tandems. According to Bill, this is a prototype and if tests pan out, it may become a Santana offering. It has 3 speed rear hub with 3 levels of power boost. And on descents, there is regenerative braking as soon as the brakes are applied. The electric drive package adds about 20 pounds to the bike and the estimated cost is $2000 for the option.

Hi, guess I'm taking a bit of a mid-season break. Yeah, a break -- that's the ticket. Anyway, something that I should have "advertised" earlier is the fact that May is National Bike Month and the third Wednesday of May is the Ride of Silence. Check out the web site to see if there is a Ride of Silence near you. All rides start at 7:00p local time to honor those who have been injured or killed on our roads during the past year.

I started participating in the ride a couple of years after it started. The past 3 years, I have organized a "closed" Ride of Silence for my cycling club. This year we are doing the ride with the "other" Long Beach cycling club.

Try to participate this year if you have a reasonable opportunity to do so.

I did the short ride plus a little extra down in the foothills today. Gal I was riding with didn't want to be out all day and that was an easy excuse for me to not have to ride back up Brook Forest (15% ish).

62 miles, 6000' climbing. Have not been climbing lately. Partner was fast. Ouch & great training.

Brook Forest sucks. Missed under 5 by a couple minutes. Still a good workout though, with 80/8900. It also took a while to wash the worms off the bike.

Thanks! Fran was speaking of you, and I was parked next to her. Big crowd, but next time, for sure.

Just edited a post because I realized it was a spoiler for the US Championship RR. Damn what a finish!

+1.

if an amateur manages to get caught 2x, why isn't that a lifetime? that's worse odds than getting hit by lightning twice.

Here's something you don't see every day. Two Cat 5's are registered for our 60+ State RR championship. Applaud starting when over 60, and hope they know what they are getting into with this race.

Started watching US Pro Nationals with about 10 Km to go. Noticed that one of the guys in the chase group was AzTR's friend. Really terrible news from that race though.

I'm thinking the iceberg means there's a lot more guys rather than there's a lot more to Todd Robertson's story, but I could be wrong.

Just when I thought I couldn't self-induce more stress and thing-to-do in my life, we're buying our neighbor's house. Really long story, but it's a tear-down and we plan to build our "dream" house on it. One of the contingencies on the sale is the cost of demolition (1,700 sq. ft. house and in-ground swimming pool). Need to get some bids fast.

Could be former cat 1s back in the day that are starting over inspired by lurking here.
