Where I work we have asked not to get large personal items delivered there. But luckily all our receptionists work part time and there is enough of a turn over of reception staff anyway than I can still sneak in larger items on occassion...

I think I've had shingles for the past week and a half. Started out with extreme back pain. Thought it was a pinched nerve. Then I got this weird but mild looking rash about a week ago. The rash has been getting slightly worse rather than better. Don't know what prompted me to look up shingles last night but I did and the (normal) photos look like what I have and the descriptions on WebMD, Mayo Clinic, CDC, etc sound exactly like what I have. Four more minutes until the doctor's office opens. Glad that it isn't highly contagious as I've been at work and trying to do normal stuff, though my training has been curtailed for the most part.

I had Shingles in my 40s - very painful. As I recall, there is a drug to take but it must be taken early for it to be effective.

Hi, guys. Yes, I've been "off air". Last week was difficult. Those of you who know me on Facebook (and elsewhere) already know why. Early last week my old pup, Winter, who was a miniature Eskimo Dog, suddenly took a turn for the worse. A trip to the vet presented dreaded news. He needed to be let go. This past Friday, at 2:35 PM my local time, he left us. I've had a very hard time around this. One of the things that kept me halfway on track was my bicycle, and I kept to the TRS through it all (although Friday and Saturday got messed up due to circumstances and weather).

Funny about that bicycle. It's helped me through other difficult times, as well.

Next CX race is November 16th. I'm better at dismount/remounts, the bike is close now on the fit, and I'm riding pretty well. I've become fairly consistent, and that's a pretty good thing, I think!

Good luck at the next race Sara. Sorry about your little buddy. Our 6 yr old Yorkiepoo recently got lethargic which is just the opposite from her normal. She has low red cell count and is on steroids and antibiotics and has perked up and is eating like a 10 pounder. The long term prognosis may not be good. In the six years that my wife has been retired from teaching the two have become BBF's.

Sara, I'm so sorry to hear of Winter. Nothing I can say can make it any better, but us dog and other pet people, can certainly share your sadness.

Rip their legs off on the 16th!

LAJ and CDR, thank you!

Dogs are people, plain and simple. They're complex, intelligent, and oh so loyal. I've known many dogs in my lifetime. Winter was one who wormed his way into my heart like no other. I am so grateful to have known him.

I hope the weather is wet for the CX race on the 16th!

Also, very sorry about your loss Sara. Dogs have a better sense of humor than most people, present company and Masters forum members excluded of course.

Well, my wife and I received our Voler state champion skins suits Friday - won in June. We both ordered the same suit and she received a speed suit that has better stitching (smoother) and less stitching at the bottom of the legs. WTF. I guess it makes sense since I am only a pretty good rider.

I petitioned USAC today for an upgrade from Cat 4 to Cat 3. I'll never get there by just racing, not against women 1/2 to 1/3 my age. I've got two full seasons under my belt (skin), plus some senior games road races, so I have some experience now. I'm going to be racing on a team featuring cat 3 and above masters women, and I want/need to be able to race with them. Here's hoping the upgrade coordinator understands my plight!
