Welcome to the Masters!

As a fellow 50 pluser, I could sympathize with a desire for the Masters Category to have a home.....given that our training and tactics tend to have to bbe different from the young pups. So......here you go! Your new training, tactics and brag spot home as a small haven from the whippersnappers. Don't forget to get out and help the kids, though, too.

Tom, thank you! I'd say more, but I'm at a loss for words. My gratitude to you, though, speaks for itself.

Most excellent. I hope this will encourage more current senior racers to post, and more older riders to give racing a try. Thanks.

Thank you Tom. I think this sub forum will take off in leaps and and bounds. Now, how do we keep out the 45+ young guns that kick some of our butts?

Well done Tom. We will have to grant you an honorary Cat 1 upgrade.

What I meant was, invite all Masters racers in, not just 50+. USAC Masters starts at age 35+. If this subforum is intended for Masters racing, all age groups, then maybe this can be noted somehow. I'm fine either way.

Great idea. But can can the 35-49 folks make it past 'the lawn' to get here?

Hi,

Late to the game but thanks Tom and Ex for getting this sub forum set up.

Regarding younger Masters racers (men and women), under 50 year-old is definitely a different mentality. As Racer Ex and I agreed night (while talking about a completely different subject), Masters shouldn't start until 40 years-old anyway. Look at Levi, Chris, Jens, etc who still race at the highest level at or above 40. I think the younger Masters are fine hanging in the 33. This will give them something to anticipate for when they turn 50.

I'm glad this subforum was created. That long single thread thingy did not work too well. I don't race but I do aspire to be a more competent rider. I will enjoy lurking here from time to time and will assume this is a good place to get training and performance questions answered.
