That says a lot, coming from you.

Not sure how the TT season will pan out here for our team. We've lost some momentum this year, been plagued will illness and injuries, and the guy who has had a tent, fan, coolers, etc for the TT group was diagnosed with a bone spur that inhibits his TT riding. So, we'll see how it evolves - hoping we get at least one team together.

And on the TT front, I've finally figured out how to lock my elbows onto the pads, relieving tension in my arms - just fingertip control now. I think a change in pad shape will make it easier, and enable me to have my palms contact the hand grips. Right now, I have fingers around them, loosely, with the palms up a bit. Actually doesn't appear too bad from an aero standpoint, although looks aren't always telling in that regard.

Recovery today. Not bad, not bad considering how my legs and shoulders felt after the race yesterday. Went down to the gym and did some ab work, upper back/shoulder work, and spent quality time with the roller. Stretching just feels so good!

My honey do list of projects around the house is killing me. After spending 6 hrs on Friday standing on ladders and scrubbing the house my race on Sat was FUBAR. Yesterday's projects were equally brutal and I'm sore all over. I plan to skip today's track sprint intervals in order to have something for our cemetery crit practice on Wed. Hopefully I'll do the track work on Thur with light winds that will allow for the disk and 5 spoke wheels.

I intend to do the TT events at the Major Taylor Velodrome on May 18.

Rode 1:45 @Z2 and felt alive again. Spring has arrived in NE Ohio. That is not dirt or dust on the bike, it's pollen. I could see green on my front tire.

After Saturday's race, my coach just bumped my 3' intervals up 30W. Yowza.

^^ bastard (meaning, the coach). My coach made me raise my FTP a little after my race a couple weeks ago -- but I couldn't hit my LT number in my 10' intervals today. WTF. :/

Recovery week. Yesterday was supposed to be a day off, but I had just replaced the tires and bars on my steel bike, and it was 75 degrees and cloudless, so I just couldn't resist. 45 minutes, hrTSS 44, IF .74. Today was also nice, but I had a scheduled workout - 1.5 hours endurance pace, with a five minute LT interval, five minute RBI, then six speed intervals - basically VO2 max, staying in the small ring, minimum 110 rpm, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off - followed by five minutes RBI, then another five minutes at LT. Heckuva workout for a recovery week. 106 TSS, .89 IF, 841 kj.

I'm certainly not a badass, but I was called "tenacious" and "energizer bunny" after this last race. I'll take those as compliments!

Recovery ride yesterday, and then some upper body work to loosen up my tight shoulders and upper arms. No guns on this woman - and I could use some!

Today a long group ride. I am expected by the group to be in the lead pack with an occasional OTF - that's what I get nowadays. Today I disappointed - my legs are sore! Coach told me to take it easy, too, and contrary to popular belief, I do listen to my coach!

Did the training crit tonight:

A. I felt good - rode the full B race as a warmup, and then stuck with the A group, though I didn't do any attacking in the 20mph wind. Definitely the best I've felt since before the crash.
B. Love the new bike. Handling is definitely quicker than the Madone was... just very responsive, and it's truly solid. Didn't have to think about cornering technique; just chose where I wanted to be. Not a thing to complain about.
C. I need to do a longer ride to confirm it, but I believe the drop is going to work out fine. I didn't have any problem staying in the drops as much as I wanted.

Great evening!

So much for my secret interval workout at the track (that I posted to Strava). Legs are definitely tired. Will tool around on the TT bike this evening to see how the modified aero bar setup feels.

BTW, seeing Ex and Big M at the track at the same time is always a frightening proposition. I expect to see burnout marks on the boards after they leave.

Just saw the news about the rain. That's why I was at the track last night instead of Tuesday twilight race. Large puddles and mid-week SoCal racers pose too much potential risk for my psyche.

I ask myself the same thing....

Cleave did that on purpose, too.

X games this morning, done mostly on a pretty good grade. It's difficult to keep the power output constant on the pavement, and holding a specific number I find almost impossible. Still, it was a good workout. Prior to it I did strength training and a good warmup on the gym's spin trainer. Legs are still sore, but I feel pretty good.

Well, I think I'm in trouble... committed to climb Mt. Diablo with a buddy Saturday - 11 miles, 5.8% ave. grade, hill climb estimator says 1 hr 45 minutes...
Still, this must be good training, right?
