Chuck, maybe "Lout" is similar to "Yat"? Maybe it's "LookOut" town? When TallWife (from St. Bernard Parish) is talking to her brothers, the most repeated phrase is "Where yat dummy?"

"Where y'at?" = "How ya doin'?" (Traditional answer: Awright!) "Yat" is the NOLA area dialect of English. And when your wife is saying goodbye on the phone to her friends back there, probably one of the last things she says is "Say hi to your Mom 'n 'em."

Chuck, I think that's "How ya doin darlin?"

TallWife isn't much of a "Yat", but I can hardly understand one of her brothers.

Another 45 minute riding in circles fest this morning, but this time on the CAAD. I sort of wanted to know which I was faster on - it or the B16. Neutral. I had no legs this morning and there was a 10MPH wind blowing. My speed was off, and riding into the wind (by myself) was wearing me down. But, there is no doubt it is easier to get up to speed on that aero bike as opposed to the road bike.

My coach emailed me this morning after having reviewed my workout files for the weekend:
Looking ahead the hard workout on the week may not be challenging enough--let's discuss potentially changing it up just a bit when we talk this week...
No good deed goes unpunished!

Brings to mind the LeMond saying.

I had 2+ hours on the TT bike scheduled, but I cut it short after -almost- crashing: Jim sees a rut in the road. Jim looks at the rut in the road. Bike follows Jim's eyes into the rut in the road. Jim's life flashes before his eyes. Thought I had tweaked my leg staying upright, and a wheel was making noise, so I eased up and headed home instead of doing Pace and practice turns. Leg is okay... I'm coddling that leg to make sure I don't get a return of issues. But I got in 2.5 of my 3x10' 105% intervals. Legs are stating to feel stronger, but the power I can maintain on longer intervals is still way down the e-wang chart.

Hit the deck at around 20 MPH on the TT bike. I hit a rut in the road when I was on the sticks and it pitched me into a curb and I landed on a sidewalk. I hit hard enough to break my helmet. My right arm took the brunt of it, but there's just abrasions and some road rash on it, along with my right calf, again. I've got a fat lip and a really good goose egg on my right temple, but I didn't get my bell rung. I had a very good ride going until the crash - and then I got up and continued it. I still rode well, at pace. I'm a little unsure of myself when I'm on the sticks, duh! That's going to be fixed. Tomorrow is going to hurt. I'm glad racing is over for now, but I've got to get this crashing crap out of my system.

Dear Sara,

CUT THAT EFFIN' S*** OUT NOW!

Love, Chuck

Seriously, I'm glad it wasn't worse. Sounds like the bike made it through okay - now it's broken in. Listen to your body and take it as easy as it tells you to.

Thanks, guys...I'll spare you all the road rash images! I might use AJ's "blood sheets" idea for arm - it's sort of ugly. All still feels not too bad, though.

Yeah, because I know from experience (geez) that it's going to take me a month to get back on form. I was just getting there again, too (I went off the front today on the group ride and pulled the "strong guys" at 33 MPH for a bit - that raised some eyebrows!).

Shovel, thanks...one day I'll crash in a race! Cripes...

Had a choice of riding or a day off yesterday. I fixed a pile of tubes and the sulky tire on my mower. I'm strongly leaning towards a group cyclo cross practice tonight. I don't know why I keep going over to the dark side. Best case is that I can do three cross races this year. We have two weddings to attend, a cruise that will take up three weekends and I have the iceman MTB race as the season ending event.

@sarals, I don't need to tell you this but in case others of our generation were wondering, Masters racers don't bounce very well. sarals, please, no more bouncing!

Cleave, I know - from experience, now! We have "crumple zones". Although, I'm doing much better after this crash than I did the one a month ago. Other than my, ahem, black eye (that took two days to develop) I have very little swelling and almost no discomfort (hurrah for Tegaderm).

I've been thinking a lot, as you can imagine, about WHY I would crash twice in a month. A friend suggested a "loss of focus", because I've never had an incident in a race, when I've got my senses in high resolution mode. I considered that for a while, and it played a role, but in the end, the two crashes were really unrelated. The first one was fatigue and then being surprised by a bump in the road causing me to loose control. This last one was poor positioning ON THE ROAD while on the sticks of the TT bike. I was too far to the right and had no wiggle room to get out of trouble. I'm not a proficient bike handler of that TT machine when I'm on the sticks, yet. I learned a big lesson from this adventure.
