Did some gravel trail riding around the area near our cabin. It was 37 degrees today and I just rode at a Z3 effort for 1 hr.

62 minutes in the not so Cold Garage this morning, starting at 0530. The CAAD is on the trainer so I can use the PT. Today was a recovery pace ride. I still dropped quite a lot of sweat onto the floor, even at that low level of effort! Shovel gave me a tip on how to set up the LYC so I don't over do things (who, me?), and that worked really well! Average power was 97 watts, which is smack in the middle of recovery pace for me. I was good!

So your recovery pace is below 194 watts?

We got 2" of grapple today so I rode indoors. Did a 20' WU then two sets of 10 x 30" @ 415 watts with 30" easy spin between intervals. HR stayed mid to high Z4 during the second half of each set. It's pretty easy to hold a steady power on the trainer, not that its important to be steady. 10 days to my only cross race.

Last night I rode the trainer and did a simulated Roger's Session 2 x (4x (2'z1 1' z3 2' z2 1' z4)) for a total of 48 minutes plus warmup and cool down. I listened to Lady Gaga's new album Artpop.

Today, I met my wife for a lunch ride that included three easy loops on the Brisbane Circuit Course for a total of one hour.

Hard spin class today (it was on the TRS). I tend to contemplate the stem a lot and the instructor yells at me about it. Hey, I can't hit anything on a spin bike, so if I want to look down, I'm going to.

Tomorrow hill training with my rabbit training partner. We're going to preride a course I think will work well for an FTP test. Should hurt so good.

One hr and forty five minute group ride tonight. Our night rides keep getting larger and we had 11 riders tonight. I was the only one going fixed gear although several did match my gearing. Decent temps of low forties but the 20mph wind was disruptive at times.

Post ride in the brew pub I had two tall micro brews and smoked chicken wings.

19 miles of hills today with my training partner. I did a pre ride of the route I want to use for the next FTP test. It will work. I think the TSS was 130 or so and the IF was .68. I don't feel like I'm riding all that well right now, but the numbers tell a different story. Weird.

Attended a Velo Sports Center racer session and participated in Roger training group. I met a new woman, Ruth Clemence, 50-54 Cat 1 world stripes. This year, she won the Bend Nats road race and came in second in the TT. She has just started track. The four Ms were there, MEA, Morgan, Melanie and Monica plus the Jan the 60+ Olympian rower turned track racer. And of course the crazy fast juniors and other men's regulars.

Prior to our session, the really big dogs were getting ready for the Los Angeles Grand Prix next weekend that will be a who's who in track racing including Sarah Hammer. I am always amazed at the speed these guys can do. They had two motors on the track at the same time revving up the racers.

Sunday is a LAVRA TT and many of the racers participating in the Grand Prix have signed up. This LAVRA is going to be a great show with amazing competition.

I did the warm up and three motor tempo efforts. My track legs came back in the third set. If feel great this AM. We did not want to do too much last night since I am racing the Santiago TT on Saturday Merckx style.
