Leg plyos and upper body at gym. A massage therapist was giving chair massages. I got one - very nice.

Tomorrow, I've been released for a ride with my 2014 team mate. We're going to be riding in the Santa Cruz Mountains. She told me there were will be other Cushman & Wakefield team members there, too, but they're all men. I'll see them at the top! When I get there.
We ladies will be talking racing, trying to get an idea of some strategy for the season. It's going to be fun!

My wife and I hooked up with Cleave in San Clemente and we rode together to Las Pulgas Road and back. Cleave started from his house and had 50 miles done when we started. My wife was on the TT bike and after a warmup, she took the lead and did an interval set. So we managed to punctuate Cleave solo century with a nice 20 miles of intervals. It was a beautiful day along the ocean with a headwind going south and a tailwind on the way back.

I did!
My teammate, Heidi, her boyfriend, and I met up with ten other folks in Santa Cruz and up into the mountains we went. Heidi and I were the only women. We climbed Highway 9 to Felton, and then did two hill repeats on Empire Grade Road. We then went all the way up Empire Grade to Bonny Dune Road, did a short loop up there, and then descended Bonny Dune Road. We hit Highway 1 and rode that back into Santa Cruz. Tough, tough climbing. I worked hard to keep the cadence up and to ride at my pace on the climbs. I stayed with Heidi on the first repeat, but not the second. She's a really good climber! The descent of Bonny Dune Road was a blast, we saw over 50 MPH in places. Heidi is also a great descender - she's a complete package. 42.8 miles, 4000 feet of climbing, 29 degrees in Felton when we got up there (BRRRRR!), TSS 309.1, IF .937, NP 138 watts. What a ride!

^^^ Thankfully, there was a tailwind going north. Always fun riding with Hermes and Velo Diva. If you consider fun trying to find a draft off of Velo Diva while she's hammering on her TT bike. I swear it's like she's drafting herself.
Ended up with 107 miles.
For you power geeks:
IF=0.73
TSS=356
Avg power=146W
NP=169W

Forecast for yesterday was high winds and a top of 38 degrees celcius, so decided after a few busy days off the bike I'd get into the hills to escape the winds and heat as much as possible.
Chose a climb I'd held off riding due to its fierce reputation and it didn't disappoint! I drove east 115km to the small town of Noojee and rode up Mt Baw Baw and back - 97km 2977m elevation gain. Last 6.8km of the climb averaged 12.6%!

IBOHUNT - It'd take me 300 miles to get that much climbing. Bet you slept well last night!
Today's ride was one of the best ever. Team ride, total of seven of us. Started out cool (37F), but warmed up quickly as the sun rose, hardly any wind. For the first time, I kept up with the whipper-snappers, took my fair share of pulls, and finished with them. The only fly in the ointment was my inability to hold 600+ watts for over a minute while climbing and sprinting. 3:30, IF .84, TSS 249.

I have a couple of choices when I go ride. Make it as flat as I can get it and that's ~55'/mi or zig zag across the Appalachians and come up with what I did yesterday.
If I do a lap around my neighborhood it's 5 miles and 750' gain. Not fun as a fat guy

Team mock road race this morning. 50 miles of mostly flat, some rollers, and 2 decent climbs (Winters RR course for you NorCal riders). 280tss, some numbers I haven't seen since summer, and a PR up a hated hill without really trying, so pretty pleased.
