Training races are a double edged sword. Great for technique and working on specific things. They can be hell on your coach trying to maintain structure with a TSS target. Same goes for group rides.

Especially when you change your schedule at the last minute by adding a race.

Not too terribly... we just changed last night's efforts to compensate for Friday night. Should work out okay, TSS wise. I must confess to frequently looking for ways to fudge that up a bit. I'm perpetually i the "petrified that I'm not working hard enough" camp.

That camp is right next door to the "I'm too fat" camp, isn't it?

That is because you have permanent residence in the "rush" camp. I have to work hard to "rush" to success.

Sometimes?, last week's 10 x 1' intervals on 6' averaged around 440 watts each. It felt like work to me. I had to go to bed early that night.

That's cuz you dialed it above 400 when you droped the hamer. You have to keep things reasonable, AJ.

Of course, watching sprinters, you wonder how many watts are being dished out just with the head bobs; particularly Greipel.

I probably waste 10 watts just over gripping the bars.

Those that complain about sprinters usually don't have a sprint

Recovery spin, 47 minutes and change, TSS 14.5, IF .43, all while watching Conan the Barbarian. I got hungry about the time he killed the snake, so I stopped and made supper. My first TT tomorrow, looking forward to it - short one, 5.4 miles.

Climbed Gieger Grade and knocked out another 100+ TSS day. Altitude is starting to kick my butt. After having to get up in the middle of the night I was pretty draggy so I took a nap before my ride. Chicken Ceaser tonight. Errands tomorrow and a recovery ride, Friday I head over the hill for the stage race.

Training has been spotty. I was sick last week so only rode a few days. Now my wife has got it, but it's been twice as intense and has lasted twice as long. Which means I have had to be responsible for the kids' breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Man, I don't know how single parents do it.

Phase II of today's training was 40 minutes of tempo on the TT course.

I got my new TRS - yes!

Hard intervals in spin class today - the last of "off structure". Day off tomorrow, openers Friday, race Saturday.

My training schedule has been hosed by the fact that
- i added a race last week
- my team practices for the TTT don't conform to my training plan, and we need to practice together
- I've been working 50% more than usual due to a big project at work.
- my indoor training class schedule got moved around due to the instructor's absence.

All this adds up to a weird combination of some missed training volume, plus too much strength training too close to tonight's LT test, which is in turn too close to this saturday's crit.

I guess this is what they mean by training thru a race?

Back on plan in 2 weeks after the TTT. Which I might not even get to do, depending on another teamie's decision.
