Hi, I'm a big fan of TED. Saw Amy Cuddy's talk earlier this year and it does get a bit emotional. A lot of things in TED talks apply to all aspects of life, including bike racing. Carry on.

I watched the whole video and found it inspirational and informative. I am a little confused how it could relate to my weak link in cycling. I know that I'm mentally challenged to do TT's and need to fake my interest and commitment. So, if I ride the TT in the "power position" my testosterone will spike providing even more moxie to take risks and to hit it harder and to be more powerful. There just seems to be a small disconnect there...

Here's my take on this: before your ride, spend two minutes 'on the podium accepting 1st prize'... if that doesn't do it, nothing will

I am trying to figure out the power position on the TT bike. However, the goal for better aerodynamics is to make ourselves smaller.

For TTs, I think Psycho-Cybernectics is a better choice. I suspect if one vividly imagines doing something well, hormone levels change.

I think UCI will ban racers from watching TED videos.

TED videos are a lot like doping.

All checked in at SOC. I even bought a new kit, like I needed one (shut up, I'm a girl, and it's clothes!). Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to do a opener ride out to the track to watch coach and his team dominate the 45+ 1/2/3 crit That will be something!

Sara - I'm getting psyched for you!

1:22 at endurance pace, with 6x1' VO2 max intervals in the middle, five minutes RBI. TSS 105, IF .87.

I'm bleepin' tired. I should be able to get more tonight than the 5-6 hours of sleep/night I've been going on for the last couple of weeks.

I will be able to get a couple of stage races in, after all. The one near home (Lake Charles) that I thought wasn't going to happen is already permitted, and the Tour de Louisiane in New Orleans will be free for me...I've got the apartment, and the club pays the entry fee for members. I spoke with my coach this morning about it, and she's arranged my training schedule to support the Tour du Lac in Lake Charles on 18-19 May; we'll see how it goes afterwards for the Tour de Louisiane on 8-9 June.

Today I met an buddy for a prework ride. It was supposed to be a mellow, sub-tempo ride. Looking at my power and HR numbers, it was a bit more than that. Need to dial it back next time.

I hope they decide to support Ex one of these times, instead of the other way around.

We'll all be with you in spirit this weekend Sara.

For Ex, I hope so, too.

AzT, I can already feel it.

Made a complete fool of myself today, with nobody around to see. It was so windy - gusting >40mph - that I decided it was borderline unsafe to do the planned criss-cross session outdoors and settled for an hour on the rollers instead. About thirty minutes in, the 'phone rang. I turned round to see if I could reach it and rode off the side of the rollers. Minor bruising to me. Mortal injuries to dining chair, though, I pretty much totalled it in the fall. Arse.

At least you didn't land on the dog, like AJ.

However, the dog is still usable/functional.

This one has never been quite functional and he's certainly not useable (but he is lovable)...

After my morning ride, went over to the track to practice some standing starts (which I have very little experience with). My club has a 500m competition on Saturday. 100 people signed up!

If you have not practiced standing starts be prepared for DSMS tomorrow or the next day. It shouldn't be a limiter.

This is a great teaching tool: http://www.fixedgearfever.com/module...oaching&op=sst

Good luck in the 500.

Delayed sore muscle syndrome. Maybe I don't have it right? Delayed onset sore muscles, DOSM? Something like that where you do some really hard efforts then the next day or two days later you feel like dying.

DOMS: delayed onset muscle soreness - first hit for 'delayed onset' via google. Sometimes the web is a useful thing.

I saw the first few laps of it. Ex and company got to the front early. The pace was high, too, and I'm guessing they were controlling that. I'll put a couple of photos on the Sea Otter thread. Ex's thunder!
