Hosed GC. Missed 3rd by one spot but thanks to a bizarre omnium points schedule (which wasn't in the race bible) I managed to drop from 3rd to 10th. Oh flippin well. Fun watching all the people advance across the centerline and get yelled at...yep, that sure showed them.
We did not ride well today.

They even already have the results up on USAC... was just checking hem out and hoping for a report. Our guy who was still racing was way back. Somehow he has a DNF in the Omnium despite finishing each race? Bizarre for sure.

sarals, glad that your race went better than expected and I expect that your next race will be better still.
AzTR, coming back from the kind of injuries that you suffered, especially at the beginning of the season, is really tough. Getting back on the horse is important as is having a good perspective on what it takes to come back. BTW, I am pretty sure that I was the oldest guy in the Cat 3 race that I did a few weeks ago and there really were 16 year-old Juniors in that race. Of course, I was on their lawn, they weren't on mine.
Racer Ex, saw you final omnium GC position and yes, it doesn't make any sense. At least your individual race results show that you're moving right along.
I've never raced the entire omnium at Murrieta and technically it's an ideal race for me to do based on location. My parents live about 3 miles from the start of each race. I just don't like the circuit race course and I haven't had much fun on the various iteration of the criterium course either. I experienced pretty much what you related during the circuit race. The year I did it the field was around 100. I decided to stay towards the right-hand side of the road in the pack to avoid getting pushed over the double-yellow line. I observed large numbers of racers blatantly go over the line followed by the moto ref zooming up and corralling back to the right causing everyone on the right to slow. This happened repeatedly until I was pushed to the back. Sounds like nothing's changed.
Also saw that Mr. Hoffenberg won all three 55+ races ahead of Malcolm Hill. Malcolm must be pretty unhappy.

Good job, Sara.
It's funny. In the P/1/2/3 race, coming up the hill to take 1 to go, I was working my way forward to get in position for the last lap, when a young girl shoved me into the curb. It cost me about 10 places. We did our warmdown laps together. No harm, no foul, just racing. Turns out she won the women's race, which was pretty well stacked.

TT report and video clip care of Hermes here.
Solid effort. Cleave, Hermes, and MEA all attended but Hermes is saving himself for tomorrow. I have fear.

Attended is a good description of today's performance. At least everyone who beat me in today's TT usually beat me. Time to convert my wheels for use on the track tomorrow.

First let me introduce myself.. I will turn 50 this summer, getting back in to racing after a stent in Afghanistan and coming home with a torn Achilles..
Shamrock crit, W3/4; mainly single gals, but one team had 4 riders, so I sat in, never getting further than 3rd wheel. Saw the late move go with 3 to go and was boxed in and could go with it, I managed to move up and finish 5th.
The women' 1/2/3 was full of really strong gals, I wanted to try and animate the race before the inevitable drop page occurred.. I took a flier and no once chased.. should have kept pressing, but my brain got ahead of my legs and I sat up... pack rolled up... I jumped back in.. and lasted until the hammer was dropped for a prime... a good hard fast race, it will make me stronger.. just mad at myself for over thinking..

Welcome Colonelmom.
Seems you outrank me, as I'm only a Majordad.
Nice racing for just getting back in the mix, and thanks for your service.

Encino Omnium. The first official USAC track event of the year meant a great turnout (didn't hurt that it was sunny and almost 80°). Two separate sessions, meant I could race two omniums without doing back-to-back races, but made for a long, 7-hour day. I had so many teammates there, though, it was a ton of fun.
For the 50+ we did a Flying 200m, a 3k Win-n-Out, and a Snowball. After promising a teammate that I would finally reign in my random flame-out style racing and instead race smart, I promptly gift-wrapped the win for my main competition of the day (in my defense, the move almost worked). I held on for second. So for the Snowball, I resolved to be patient. First few laps go by, and various people pick up the low-point laps. About 4 or 5 in, the winner of previous race puts down the hammer and takes the next lap, I'm on his wheel. We come around again, and I was tempted to come around him (really nervous that he would build up an insurmountable point total), but I waited... as soon as he crossed the line, he immediately backed off, and I jumped. I had about 1/3 of a lap gap, and was able to hold that for the rest of race. Overall, two seconds and a first, for the omnium win.
For Cat 4 we did a flying 200m, a 40-lap Points, and a 20-lap Scratch. Managed faster time in the 200m the second time around (despite the winds picking up), which I was pleased with. Points race was the usual frenetic dash for the first sprint, but then at some point before the second one, most of the field totally cracked and it was just five of us the rest of the way. Scratch Race held together a bit better despite a few surges. At the end, I jumped early (~2 to go) knowing I didn't really have much of sprint left in my legs at that point, and managed to hold on for 2nd. Was 4th overall in the omnium.

Way to drill it, Vance. That's some lofty territory you're in.
Welcome Colonelmom, and sounds like a great performance. What's your racing background?

VanceMac, a win?!?!?! Excellent!!! Who knew a trackie was lurking in your cycling soul. I guess everyone was tired from yesterday because there weren't many people at VSC for the LAVRA TTs.
