I'm starting to look at Chinese TT frames. Don't yell at me.

I've found these two:

http://www.departmentofgoods.com/rid...an-rs-frameset

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Stevens...item2a27028b98

:so far.

Is anyone familiar with either/both?

I'd take a look at the new Dolan.

More info here.

For $1500 you get the headset, brakes, levers, and a seat post with a ton of adjustability.

If you're looking at the Planet X I'd go shop Ali Express. It's an open mold frame and there are a lot of them in the $600 or less range out there. My experience with Planet X a few years ago wasn't good on the customer service side; they recalled a crank I bought from them and they stiffed me on 2nd day shipping they said they'd pay but I ended up eating. Never answered my emails or phone messages.

Stevens makes a great cross bike. That's really what they're known for. They fit funny, too, so you will see almost new ones for sale often as people bought the wrong size online. As good a brand as it is, I would not trust a TT bike from them. It's not their thing.

Ridley makes great bikes.

I am super happy with my Excalibur. It is just a straight-up, no-nonsense race bike. I would seriously look at that Dean if it fits.

I'm kicking tires right now. There's a lot to learn. I'm not going to pull the trigger on anything until after the SG.

That Dolan is badass, Ex! I know Ridleys are great bikes. I didn't know Planet X had iffy customer service. And, those Chinese frames have quite a following out there.

I'm just scratching the surface.

This I found on Ali Express in several different iterations. Looks badass. I found what you mean by "open mold", Ex. There are many, many, MANY similar frame sets on that site. The prices are quite tolerable. The Velobuild forum is a good source for questions on the manufacturers and the bikes themselves. So far I've found mostly positive experiences. The biggest "complaint" is shipping time, with six weeks to two months before the bike arrives being the norm. Quality doesn't seem to be an issue, at all.

My reach is 40CM and stack is 53CM (Bianchi and CAAD 10). Now, are these numbers valid for a TT bike, which has an entirely different geometry? Look here, for instance. Going by that, a bike that would fall into my dimensions would be a 54CM, and even then the stack is shorter. Like I said, I've got a lot to learn.

I don't think the geo is transferable, although general sizing may be applicable. You need to try a few TT bikes on for size.

I do. There in lies the problem....no one locally carries them because "they don't sell". Oh, well. I'll dig deeper after SG.

Blanco built up its Giant Propel aero road frames with TT bars, and used Shimano Di2's multi-button capability to provide shift options at every hand position. The two aero extensions have one button each (left goes to an easier gear, right side to a harder one), and the bull horns have the usual Di2 brake/shift levers. The team paired the aerobar setup with light Shimano C24 wheels. Photo: Caley Fretz | VeloNews.com
Take that, you multi button haters.

I'd have the Propel with Di2 and sprinter shifters, but that model isn't being delivered to the US this year. I decided not to strip the 9000 and switch to electronic.

Yes - button envy. COOL looking bikes!

I'm investigating this right now...but not until I know what fits. However, it fits into my badass looks quotient, as well as Brand Loyalty. We'll see!

I'm guessing the McClaren version has fancy paint and uses, instead of super secret carbon, super DUPER secret carbon.

Generally speaking, you go a size down on TT frames, right?
