BARKING SPIDER MTB Race 4/6/13

Tried loading this two weeks ago, and no joy. For some reason the computer likes me today.

You can see my skinny ass at 2:34, and crossing/after the finish line at 2:44.

I don't know the videographer, but think that it is very well done.

For those in the know, that's Amanda Carey in the pink NO TUBES kit.

I don't see how it's possible, but it looks like you MTB freaks had fun.

Those handlebars look impossibly wide!

I tried to pick up a "light" mountain bike at Sea Otter. My back is okay, now....

;)

The trick is to train on a 30 lb. bike, then when you switch to your race bike you feel like a god.
Or at least I hope it works that way.

We've been known to have a little fun, while letting our Freak Flags Fly.

Wider = more control, and leverage OTS. Too wide = clipping a branch, and flying over/around the handlebars.

Mine is only 21.5 lbs. in race mode, which is pretty light for a full suspension. That's before adding 10 lbs. of mud. :D

Here is our own VanceMac racing at Velo Sports Center

Here is the finish for the women's 20 K RR at PSG. It's tough for me to watch.

Racing to Jefferson Airplane is cool.

shovelhd 06-09-13 06:44 PM

Nice sprint.

Totally! VanceMac really flies, too! How does one get to ride on that track? I got to sit in the infield, and I felt privileged to do that. What a place!

How many times have you sprinted in contention?

Racer Ex 06-10-13 11:11 AM

Me, AZT, and Cleave in the break.

Hermes, that answered it all! Thanks!

Say, is there going to be "Beat the Clock" at Hellyer this summer?

Yeah, I do. Still, it doesn't make me feel any better. I wanted that race, and I told Ex I was going to win it, and I knew I would. I should keep my mouth shut.

Hermes 06-10-13 03:38 PM

No. Beat The Clock decided that the turnout was too low to make it worth the effort. Here is the link to their new website.

Nah. Keep talking. But you need to focus on how vs. the result. "I'm going to win" isn't as good as "I'm going to attack at 500m off the third wheel".

One is expectation. The other is strategery. Throw in a < between those two.

You did good.

sarals 06-26-13 07:51 AM

That was Thurlow in the break with you? Heck of field, that would have made me nervous! You sure did your share of work, great job, coach!
