First Mountain Bike Race - What do I do?

I am doing my first mountain bike race next week. I am fine with the bike and the training and the warmup. Any other specifics I should know? What do you carry with you? Spare tube and CO2? Do you wear the number or is it attached to the bike?

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!

How long is the race? A short citizen race you probly wouldnt need to carry anything with you. Except for water, and a snack maybe. If its longer then you might need to look into a tool kit.

I only carry a muti tool, if i pop a flat the games over for me anyways. For me they give you two numbers, one for your back and one for the frount of your bike. Ask someone and they will be more than happy to help you out.

I belive bikers are the most friendly type of people!

Most of the time mtb races have one number that mounts on the front of your bars. Carry a CO2, a tube, a powerlink, and maybe a couple allen keys if you want. Oh, and food of course!

Start fast, settle in, and pick people off. Have fun with it!

"Start fast, settle in"

Watch for knucklers when it's go time. Some starts can be a recipe for crashes depending on the group and the terrain for the first few hundred meters....heads-up and have fun !!
