SRC; Alive and kickin'

The Winter series has kicked off and this year there were over 500 riders for the first race weekend of the series. Not to bad for a small local club:thumb:

Also, Channel MTB is going to be filming some of the races and posting them up.
You can check out the first race here;

ChannelMTB - SRC Winter Series #1

The DH is not very difficult but the course changes from race to race and get tougher as the series goes on.

Cheers:beer:

Hey, thanks for the link, DBD! I've wanted to do Fontucky for a while now; looks like a fun venue. Reminds me of Sea Otter but with big, roundy rocks. The fact that they're doing this in the 'off-season' is awesome.

Great MX block-pass move at 3:43 in.

Looks really cold :). Thats some great terrain. Looks a lot like one of the places I've ridden in colorado, and now I cant wait.

You should head on down later in the series when the course is a bit more difficult or come on down for round one of the NORBA Championship series... some of the rock gardens they use for that race are sick. They look easy but one wrong calculation and yer off to the hospital, good times:thumb:

If you do well at Fontana you will do well at the 'Otter as well since both courses are super short, top pros are just above two min and the top Sport riders are 02:30 - 02:40.
It is definitely a pedaling course, that wall you see at the end of the vid, that is what racers refer to as "The Wall", it will make or break your run. This last race we had 30 to 40mph head winds and the fast riders took a good 45sec to get past the wall. I literally lost 15sec on my run because of the damn head winds and my fat ass aint as lean as it used to be.

Also with the Winter Series we get a lot of pros/experts from all over the US. There are always top riders there since this is the "off season" for most of the country. Plus all the local pros who are just silly fast.

It was cold, buuurrrrr!! We had some sustained gust up to 50mph AND the temps never topped 81* :innocent:

It is definitely a pedaling course, . . . .

I LOVE pedally courses. We have a 15+ minute endurance DH course at Silver Mtn., ID that really tries to suck the life out of you. But it's a blast. Might have to make plans to do Fontana next winter.

The times I posted were Fontana times. The Otter course is a bit longer so a 3min run at the Otter would get you about 02:50 or so at Fontana in your class.

And yeah, I read yer report as you sent me the podium pic since the guy in second, Roger, is a friend of mine and he ran a 2:54 at the last race.

Oh, duh, that's right. Just still so full of myself after that, well, . . . what can I say? OK, I'll try to quit waving it around and tone that down up there.

Going to have my work cut out for me at Crankworx this year, though. Oldest Expert class up there is 30+

The last XC race at SR had about 2 miles cut off from the usual course. It was only 5 miles and I think 800ft in gain. The usual is 6.9m and 1300ft. I really like Southridge too, mainly because I like Don(the guy who promotes it) he's real friendly and good for the sport of cycling.

I would race it this weekend(1-24)but I'm already signed up for the 12hours of Vail Lake which should be fun.
